"The problem with winter sports is that...follow me closely here...they generally take place in winter." - Dave Barry

A woman is on trial in Utah for beating her husband to death with his guitar collection. The judge asked, "First offender?" She said, "No, first a Gibson, then a Fender."

We have goats! We picked up two bucklings at 10 this morning, and after some final instructions from Marta brought them home to MoHo.
I only have my cell phone camera and can only get pics from there to my laptop via email. Because we have no cell phone coverage out here in the woods and internet only via a satellite (read: slow and unreliable) I'm having trouble including the bad pics I've taken so far.

Like newborn puppies they spend their time either sleeping or moving. In the former state they're a dark blob on the floor and in the latter they're a blur, especially with a camera that features a 3 second delay from hitting the shutter button to taking the pic. So, with apologies...

This is Itzhak, so named because he's wearing a yarmulke. He was born a week ago and is one of triplets. He now weighs about 10.5 pounds and is a bit wobbly on his feet but gets around OK.

Marta took this pic a couple of days ago but he looks pretty much the same.

And this is Asante (ah-SAHN-tay), the Swahili word for thanks. He's about 36 hours old and very wobbly. His front legs are the worst and he can only stand on them for a minute or two before going down to his elbows.

They get a bottle every four hours, 6 oz. for Itzhak and 4 oz. for Asante. Actually, Asante hasn't had anything yet because he won't take the bottle. He'd been nursing from mama and isn't at all thrilled with a nipple. So far he's refused it for two feedings, but we're not panicking because Marta told us this would happen. Hopefully, the the 10 p.m. feeding he'll be hungry enough to figure it out.

Between figuring out how to diaper a baby goat (that's tricky), feeding and all that goes with it, a brisk 4-mile run (33 degrees), and supper...I'm tired!
Feedings are at 2, 6, and 10, a.m. and p.m. Pam's doing the 10 p.m. and I'm doing 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. because I'm up anyway.

I'll hope to have better pics tomorrow, but here's one pam took of Asante.
