"First you forget names, then you forget faces. Next you forget to pull your zipper up, and finally, you forget to pull it down." - George Burns
Yesterday I worked on Sally. I got a new battery two weeks ago but the original type is hard to come by and this one doesn't have the bottom ledge that the hold-down clamps grab. So I ordered a retro-fit clamp that required some modification, and the battery is now secure.
I also took off the valve cover to replace the leaky gasket. While it's off I'm stripping it of its incorrect BRIGHT orange paint. Once that task is done I'll prime & repaint it the correct Ford blue to match the head, air cleaner & oil filler cap.
I did all of that because I felt some kind of release to turn my attention that direction. Yesterday I also submitted the truck to BringATrailer.com for their auction. I should hear back Monday, maybe Tuesday and learn if a) they've accepted it, and b) if they agree to my "suggested" reserve.
We don't miss Arizona. We do miss our kids/grandkids and the fact that state, alone among 50, does NOT engage in the foolishness of this time change. Why can't we get rid of DST? Nobody likes it and the experts now agree it raises, not lowers energy consumption.
One more thing I miss about AZ: the Goodguys Spring Nationals held in Scottsdale this weekend. It's a huge outdoor car show with hundreds of collector and unique cars all owned by regular people. Everything from classic hot rods to perfectly restored DeSotos and everything in between. And lots of them for sale. If I was there I'd take the truck. Plus a vendors' area, plus a swap meet with all things automotive.
Heavy sigh.
Facebook is making it difficult to be nice.
I sometimes get friend requests from people I have no desire to be connected with in any way. Sometimes those requests come from people on the edge of mental health with rather odd obsessions, or from people who have bailed on every truth and principle I value, or from someone who did me serious dirt but now, for reasons I can't begin to understand, thinks we should be best buds.
Over 40 years of work in ministry taught me to be nice to everybody; it's what we do. So rejecting their friend request just feels wrong.
Note: I do reject friend requests. Just this morning I did that to Pamela Anderson. Yep, she wants to be my friend! Alas, it's not that Pamela Anderson, though this one, who lives somewhere in North Carolina, is trying hard to look like her.
But when requests come from someone I know and don't want to be connected with I just ignore the request. It feels better than hitting the "reject" button, so I take no action, resulting in a list of requests just sitting in that folder.
Recently FB started putting a bar in my news feed of friend requests waiting for my response.
Guilt trip!
Preet Bharara was fired as the federal prosecutor for the district that includes NY. The press is decrying this action despite the fact it's normal for newly elected Presidents to replace these political appointees when they take office. Bharara was an Obama appointment who replaced the one he fired.
I boldly predict that Bharara's refusal to resign as requested was a savvy political move, and that within six months he will announce his candidacy for one of several open positions in the state or city of NY. He's a Democrat and a close ally of Chuck Schumer who wants getting fired by Trump on his political resume'. He played this.
This morning Brett preached the third in a 4-part series on University Fellowship Church. The first sermon covered the four core values, the second the church's mission, and this morning he talked about three of the nine items in the doctrinal statement - what the church believes about the Bible, about man, and about salvation. Next Sunday he's going to talk about membership and I'm curious to hear that one.
We hit the low 60's today and had lots of sun. After two months of record cold, record rain, and enough snow to keep us housebound for five days I took advantage of this wonderful day to go for my first run since early January. I'd like to tell you it felt great, but that would be lying.

Take heart! Good Guys have been coming to the PNW for 29 years. This July makes it 30. https://www.good-guys.com/events/event-info/2017-events/item/152-goodguys-30th-pacific-northwest-nationals
Yeah, I looked up their schedule when I realized it was this weekend in AZ. Puyallup and Spokane, and I have family both places (Seattle and Spokane). Hmmmm.
