"If it was raining soup the Irish would go out with forks." - Brendan Behan

I woke up in the middle of a dream in which I seemed to be the only person who could see the obvious stupidity of the situation around me. Then I came out to my chair, got my first cup of coffee, and visited the major news sites.
I'm not sure it was a dream.

Many of the news outlets are leading with the story that Sect. of State Tillerson said military options are on the table regarding N. Korea and their ongoing nuclear program, despite 20 years of diplomatic efforts to get them to drop it.

Oh no!! How horrible.

Imagine if he had said military options were NOT on the table.
If you were a crazy dictator how would you interpret that stance?
If Tillerson disavows the military option he should be fired.

The media is reporting that if the President's budget is approved it would deprive the American people of Sesame Street, eliminate Meals on Wheels and meals for school kids, and cut way back on foreign aid. Each of these will certainly bring about the end of the world.

By the way, Sesame Street is now owned by HBO. It was a financial loser for PBS so they sold it off.

It's been less than 24 hours, but I'm encouraged by how the auction is going. The comments have all been very complimentary, which feels validating. I am, after all, a hobbiest at best. And I already have two bids, still a long way from what I hope/need to get, but there's still six days to go.

Sometimes people hear my last name and ask if I'm Irish. My response: "Do I look drunk??"
Turns out the Irish have 41 terms for being drunk.

The plan was to drive Sally into town this morning to work on the book and then go to DMV to get it registered.
FAIL.
I should have thought it through. If the choke doesn't close like it should for a cold start and requires that to be done by removing the air cleaner and closing it by hand, then it's also not going to open it once the engine is warm. So after a stop for gas it died...in the middle of an intersection. Yeah, I got it started again but decided the best thing to do was to drive it home and wait until the manual choke conversion arrives (it did late this afternoon), that kit is installed (tomorrow or Sunday depending on the weather) and I can control things with a cable from inside the car.

We're selling the truck 'cause financial realities call for it. So if/when it's sold I'll have to resist the temptation to put that money into Sally. She could be a looker!
