"I am firm, you are obstinate, he is a pig-headed fool." - Katharine Whitehorn
One hundred years ago today the U.S. entered WWI. One of the major dynamics of that war was the use of chemical weapons which were deemed so horrendous that after the war an international treaty outlawed them.
Today we launched 50 cruise missiles against Assad because of his use of chemical weapons against his own people in Syria.
And the Senate went nuclear.
I assumed President Trump built Mara-Lago. Turns out it was built by a woman gazillionaire who willed it to the federal govt. when she died so it could be used as a retreat by presidents. None of them wanted to stay there so it was sold to Donald Trump. Full circle.
I worked on getting the new gas tank into Sally this afternoon. The helpful instructional video on You Tube done by CJ Pony Parts, the place I got it from, said, "This job should take you about an hour."
Yeah, right.
This from the guy who can put it up on a lift, has fancy adjustable tanks for draining the gas out of the tank, a drain plug that will actually come OUT of the tank, and a tank that isn't rusted in place.
I'll finish tomorrow. The old tank is out and getting the new one in should be a lot easier.
The 4" section of rubber hose that went from the tank to the metal fuel line had a hole in it. That accounts for the gas smell, but the fuel level sending unit was bad and replacing it requires taking the tank out anyway. As long as it's out it's cheap enough to put a new one in. They're not that expensive and gas leaks aren't a good thing.
We had a visitor today. Dear friend Sherry stopped by on her way from visiting kids & grandkids in AZ for a tour of Baker Rd. before driving home to Newberg. (The Eugene airport has cheap direct flights to AZ.) We've known Sherry for more than 25 years and have lots of shared history. Her husband Mauri, besides being a true musician, is a good guy in the fullest sense of that word. We had a good visit, but we always do.
Other than Sherry and the gas tank work it was a pretty uneventful day. It didn't rain and was warm enough that once we got MoHo heated up with a morning fire it stayed that way all day. Tomorrow we're back to rain with wind gusts to 30 mph.
Springtime.
