"There never was a woman who did not prefer an oblique compliment to a straight truth - if the latter were unflattering." - Minna Antrim

The plumber says everything we want to do is no big deal and gave me a preliminary estimate I thought was very reasonable. He's going to write up a more detailed estimate that will include a separate section for adding a laundry room, which is higher on the list than other items.

I called a local discount window & door business and gave them the sizes for all of MoHo's windows. Three of them are sizes unique to mobile homes but he says they can custom order them, as well as the two exterior doors which are shorter than normal doors. I'll check prices at a couple of other places, but at least I now know they're readily available.

So far all the tradespeople I've talked with have given the thumbs up to our plans, so at this point I think we've decided to go ahead. That doesn't mean much since the only thing that will happen this year is a new wood stove. That will require a new non-combustible floor pad, something I'll probably make out of ceramic tile, and a heat shield against the two walls of the corner where the stove will sit. The plan is to have all of that work done so they can install the stove in early September. The next step, the roof, will wait until next summer. Which is why I was up there today patching more bad spots.

This afternoon we went to a baseball game. The 9-year old son of a couple in our small group is part of a team that made it into the playoffs and today was the first game of that double elimination tourney. They won easily, so we'll go to their next game tomorrow afternoon. The family is going through some challenging stuff and this is a way to show our support.
What a hoot. These 7-9 year olds have all the big league moves down even if fielding a ball usually involves falling down. Instead of a pitcher a man stands behind a pitching machine set to a very reasonable speed that throws all strikes. They get five balls to swing at, with no count of balls or strikes. After five pitches they've either had a hit or struck out.
Fun hour of watching boys be boys.

The podiatrist said this would be no big deal. He's never had a toenail removed. It's yucky, messy, and painful if shoes are just a wee bit too small (like my work boots). I did finally go for a run this evening and that went OK.

Sundae is bigger and having a lot more trouble moving. Goats like to be up on things and Marta says that's especially true when they're pregnant, part of their defense system against predators. Sundae gets up on a stump near the gate to their pen but sure has trouble getting down. Think of a woman who's 9 months pregnant coming down a ladder.
We're three days from her official due date, so any time.

The second pitman arm arrived yesterday! The first one is still circling the country and may never show up. I called the mechanic to let him know I now have all the parts so he's put me on his schedule. "I have a big job coming in Monday, so when that's done...." Maybe the end of next week??
We're going to take Sally to church tomorrow just so she gets some exercise. Cars shouldn't sit too long.
This will be Pam's first ride in Sally.

Time to go put the goats back in the barn for the night.
Tomorrow is the third Sunday of the month so Pam will be in helping with the 2-year olds. Maybe a stop at Lowe's on the way home to look at tile for the stove floor pad, which has to be a noncombustible material so embers don't cause any trouble.
