Eight nickels = two paradigms

For Alicia Keyes? It's a grand dress. (So many more.)

I was at the podiatrist's office at 8:30 and out by 9:00. He pronounced the procedure and recovery a total success and said my suffering puts me in the 5% of people who have trouble with swelling and significant pain. One of his patients ran 20 miles the next day. I told him my foot wouldn't fit in my running shoes which he looked at (I was wearing them) and said they're too small. Hmmm.

Came home to find Mark, my younger brother, had arrived from Seattle (we knew he was coming). This is his first visit to Baker Rd. and we're trying to give him the full experience. He got a tour of the flora and fauna and then we spent a couple of hours cutting firewood down to the appropriate size for the smaller wood stove we hope to get this fall. I cut to 18" and this stove will only take 16" pieces. After that we mostly sat. Sitting is good and a Baker Rd. approved activity.

Marta's coming over tomorrow morning so we can disbud the kids. That's not fun for anyone, especially the goats, but goats with horns can be difficult to handle. I'll hold the kid while Marta applies the iron that burns off the bud that would otherwise become a horn.
Other than that things in the barn are going great. At less than a week old the kids are discovering how to jump and run, a site that would make the grumpiest of people smile. And Sundae is a good mamma.

The best news of the day: Steven & Michelle and the grandkids are going to come visit in September! Josh & Aubri and their two were up last summer so this will complete things.
And Sheila, a Pathway VIF, is stopping in Saturday. However, I suspect she doesn't really care about us; she raised goats and I think she's coming to see AJ and Burrito. That's OK, we'll take visitors from AZ on any basis. We miss our Pathway peeps.

The first day back goes great and you think, "I haven't lost any fitness." The next day's run fixes that error; it was only because your muscles were fresh. The second day they're not and it's mostly pain. The third day (today) is worse yet.
But then it gets better. (I'm counting on it.)
There's a sermon illustration in there someplace.

Short post tonight but I've got nothing in my head.
(I heard that!)

See you tomorrow night, and if the day plays out like we've planned we should have an adventure to recount.
