F1 is in Mexico this weekend with three races left in the season.
They've changed Saturday's forecast for Grants Pass again with the high now up to 80 degrees. That's not until 3 p.m., but what I like is that the temp at 8 a.m. is now up to 55 degrees and at 58 by 10 a.m.
My first goal is to finish and my dream goal is to do it in under 2:30, so it should be in the upper 50's the entire time. That's ideal - cool but not cold. Staying hydrated is easier and my shirt won't get drenched in sweat.
Check-in and packet pickup ends at 7:45 and it takes 2:40 to drive to Grants Pass. We'll leave here (Pam's decided to go with me) about 4:00 and stop in Roseburg, an hour south of here, for some b'fast at a Denny's. I'm not running fast enough to have trouble if I eat three hours before the race and this will put energy into my system.
This just in: Tomorrow in Grants Pass the state's second In n' Out is opening!!!
No question where the post-race meal will be, assuming it's not crazy busy. (Sorry, Ellen)
I spent several hours today working on the third section of the book and got that edit done. It included adding about two pages of content that were needed to make it flow better. Three more sections to edit.
The rest of my day was spent making repairs to the goat fence, fixing the damage they'd done to it. Goats love to scratch and will walk along a fence leaning into it so it scratches their side as they go. Their favorite section had almost broken loose from the weight of their bodies against the fence so it needed some bracing. And I dug that trench to drain water away from the barn. Because it will rain again.
My new ring came today. It's a half size smaller and fits much better. This one won't come off when my hands get soapy.
In my last post I mentioned reading about the Berbers of north Africa. The answer is yes, that's where the Berber carpet weave comes from. It's a knotting pattern that originated with them.
The Berbers are a large ethnic group with several sub-groups, including the Touaregs. As in the Volkswagen Touareg. But I don't think they designed it.
Why would you name an SUV after an obscure ethnic group from north Africa? Because they're nomads; they get around.
Hey, isn't that cultural appropriation?
You can picture what a deflated ballon looks like. A birthday balloon that was blown up to capacity and then allowed to sit for several days until it gradually lost almost all its air. All saggy and limp.
Sundae's udder.
Fifty years after the assassination of President Kennedy the govt. today released most of the previously classified files related to that event.
That was a lead story on the national news shows tonight. told to us by a group of broadcasters who weren't alive when that happened.
OK, I feel old now.
I was home from school, sick with pneumonia. Because that illness had already lasted two weeks the folks had moved a small TV into my bedroom, so I watched the story develop as it happened. Unforgettable.
