"The secret of a happy marriage remains a secret." - Henny Youngman
I got exercised about the manuscript after dinner last night, went back to work on it, and by 8:30 I'd emailed it to my three content readers.
This feels weird. For the first time in over two years I don't have that project on my daily to-do list. There's nothing to do with the ms until I get it back from them. I'm not sure if I feel a sense of accomplishment, dread, freedom, or loss.
So today I'll fill the void by researching publishing options.
Note: it's 7 a.m. now. I've decided the only way for me to write posts each (most) days is to start early and add brief bits throughout the day. By the time I get to the dark side of dinner I'm too tired to write more than a paragraph or two.
There are some pieces of music that can't be interrupted. You either have to sit in your driveway until the song is done or (what happened to me today) leave the music station playing on DishTV until it's over.
In this case it was the Overture to the Marriage of Figaro by Mozart. It moves along with such determination that to cut it off in the middle feels like a crime of some sort. Somebody (Figaro?) will never get to his destination, left hanging in some fourth dimension because I interrupted his progress.
Fortunately, it's only a few minutes long.
This morning Marta brought Dolly and Fabio over. Fabio (on the right) will only be here for about a month while he's weaned. Dolly, his sister, will be our third breeding doe. They're half Boer and half Nubian, a common cross that typically births easily and makes for good mothers. Dolly is EXTREMELY loud. As in her scream can be heard halfway down Baker Rd. And because she's stressed out by her new surroundings she's vocalizing a lot. They should both settle in and see this as home in about a week.
I did the 8-mile loop today. It felt bad and my time was slow. My post-race layoff has taken its toll. The only solution is to work my way up out of this hole by running, and running with pace. I can get it back, but it ain't gonna be fun.
We've had goat meat the last two nights. Pam made a meal that was half an acorn squash filled with goat meat, avocados, and sour cream. It was good. Tonight we had a taco salad with goat meat and BACON. It was even better.
I did a lot of online reading this morning about publishing and bookmarked several sites I'll go back to. Information overload.
