"Scientists now believe the primary biological function of breasts is to make males stupid." - Dave Barry
Juxtaposition; (n) going to Dunkin' Donuts in the morning and for a two mile run in the afternoon. But in fairness, I walked the 3/4 mile to DD.
Four more sleeps.
Before leaving for the airport I'll do all the laundry including the sheets and towels I've been using, vacuum, mop, and make sure everything in this house is just as I found it.
My brain keeps thinking that if I start that work now I can go home when it's done.
That said, I feel very good about my time here. From my perspective it's gone as well as it could have. The people have been very gracious, receptive to my efforts, and just generally fun. I'm glad I had the opportunity, very thankful for a wife who was 100% on board with it, and grateful for the people I've come to appreciate after four short weeks.
It looks like they're going to get yet another storm next Tuesday. (I fly home Monday!) They're calling it "Foureaster".
At least a storm after I leave clears me of the Jonah effect.
I guess it's official. I'm headed to Brazil in June to do some teaching. Joe Campos was one of my students, a Brazilian national, and now the director of several ministries there. I'll be gone about two weeks and teach groups of pastors in Recife' and Aracaju some theology and church administration. Lots of details to work out between now and then.
Pam and I agreed I was retiring from the pastorate but not from ministry. The book was a big part of that commitment, as were Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and Tanzania. Now Eastport and soon Brazil.
Thankful to still be able to serve God and his church.
We're two months away from our next set of kids. Sundae is due on May 13 or 14. I'm curious to see how big she looks when I get home. Dolly, too. She's due July 1, so she should be showing increased girth by now. Because it's her first kidding and that often means only one instead of the usual two she may not expand as much as she will in future pregnancies.
I'm enjoying Zane Grey. It's not Charles Dickens but still enjoyable reading that's certainly better than the formulaic fiction pumped out by the current list of best-selling authors. (Yeah, I'm talking about you, James Patterson.)
Grey's genre is western fiction and it's a lot like western movies. That is, obvious good guys and bad guys, horses, revolvers, and pretty women who need saving from something or someone.
You should give him a try.
