"A synonym is a word you use when you can't spell the first word you thought of." - Burt Bacharach

Today's staff meeting didn't happen because we got another 4+" overnight and roads were sketchy at best. Dave sent an early email telling us the weekly staff meeting was cancelled, and that we should only come in if we could do so safely.
Pam and I went in but only braved it because we have 4wd. Well, that and we were out of clean clothes. Pam couldn't do the normal Monday laundry because even with 4wd we couldn't get out. Nobody could. So we left here about 7:30 and I dropped Pam off at the laundromat and went on to the office. Four other people showed up compared to the normal 12+. She called me when the laundry was done, I went to get her, and we came home.

The trees are all covered with snow, including those that couldn't take the weight and are now horizontal. Cars in the ditch or stuck in unplowed driveways, and employees out trying to clear off their parking lots for customers who won't be coming.

I did burpees at the gym this afternoon. It's been a long time.
Not long enough.

Had a couple of phone conversations with my younger brother in Seattle this afternoon. Mom had "severe" pain in her arm so they transported her by ambulance to the hospital. I'm not sure I have the details correct (I'm not sure anyone does at this point) but they apparently found a blood clot somewhere in her forearm. The original plan was just to put her on a blood thinner and send her home because she doesn't want surgery. Then they told her it could be done under local anesthetic so she's consented.
They've transferred her to the larger hospital downtown where they'll do the procedure, but we don't know when. Or exactly what they're going to do. Or why.
We're assuming the doctors know all of that stuff.

I stopped typing while we ate dinner (delicious braised goat). Just as I was finishing the power went out. DARK!!
I put on my headlamp and took two buckets down to the creek so we'd have water to flush the toilet, was back for about 10 minutes discussing with Pam the relative merits of going into Veneta to get candles, and the power came back on! Yay!!
It was only out for about 35 minutes. Some people still don't have their power back since losing it Monday morning.

In class Sunday we'll finish up Proverbs and prepare them for reading Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon. Yeah, that should be fun. Especially with a couple of Jr. Highers in the class.
Covenant theology is looking better all the time.
(a little hermeneutics humor)

There's more, but I'm pooped. Between church and the extra chores because of the weather, never mind the burpees it's gonna be an early night.

A long time ago I bought 2 oil lamps for when the power goes out. I've used them only a few time over the years, but I'm glad I got them. They're pretty bright.
