"An optimist is a fellow who believes the housefly is looking for a way out." - George Jean Nathan

Today has been all about the weather.
It started snowing about 7:00 last night. I went to bed at 9:00 and when I got up at 3:00 I saw my bedside clock flashing. I came out to my chair and five minutes later the power went out and stayed out until 7 a.m.

It's really dark here with no power. With the help of my Harbor Freight freebie flashlight I got new batteries in my headlamp which turns out to be a pretty handy thing in this situation.

I got a good fire going in the wood stove to take the chill off of a 55-degree MoHo. Then I went out to get snow off the canopy over the Blazer and the portable shed the camping trailer and compressor are in. They looked real close to collapsing under the weight of the very wet heavy snow.
Repeated that every three hours and still got a bent rail.

I had some coffee left in the pot from last night and discovered that a cup of joe set on top of the wood stove for about 15 minutes gets to perfect drinking temp.

We got 12" of the white stuff that bent over and broke limbs that I cut off using my bow saw.
A clever fellow would have thought about the implications of the forecast and made sure he had gas for the generator and chainsaw.
Nope.

They say "tens of thousands" of people are without power and some of them have been told it could be up to a week before it's restored so we're thankful!

I did get some work done today for my class. I prepped a few days of the daily email I send out so I'm good for much of this week. Mostly I spent the day cutting of fallen branches, knocking snow off the roofs of tarp sheds, and keeping a fire going.

I don't know if I'll get out of here tomorrow morning. An overnight low of 25 means everything is going to freeze, including the slush on the roads. I'd rather stay home than end up in a ditch. And more trees and/or branches may come down under the weight of snow and ice.

In the good news department this batch of walnut squares turned out perfectly. If I go in tomorrow I'll take them with me, but Faith isn't there on Tuesdays so she told me to hide them so they don't get eaten by everyone else before she gets there Wednesday.
Last time I took in cinnamon rolls she came in at noon to an empty tin. This is to make up for that.
