"The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time." - Bertrand Russell
We are being overrun with lady bugs (technically lady beetles according to VIF and master gardener Debby). Most of them are in our bathroom which I attribute to the increased humidity in that room. A month ago you could spot a dozen at any point in time, but that number is now easily doubled. They show up in other rooms, too, and they have no sense of where they're most annoying and likely to get killed. Your glass, your toothbrush, up your pant leg....
Where are they coming from??
This morning I applied seam sealer to the edge of the floor pan so the seam between the new pan and the existing metal is watertight. The directions said it's best applied when temps are between 65 and 70 degrees. Right.
I have no way of knowing how the panel adhesive worked and if it has bonded the new floor panel to the surrounding metal, but there are also now rivets every 8" around the perimeter. I removed the self-threading metal screws and replaced them with rivets using a smaller rivet gun I got at Harbor Freight last night. So panel adhesive, rivets, and seam sealer should more than do the job. I'll still spray a can of truck bed liner on the underside of that area of the floor to protect that area.
So I'm ready to install the carpet and new shift console as soon as the weather clears a bit. If that's a couple of weeks out so be it. I'd rather be able to take my time and do a good job that get frustrated because I'm wrestling with it in the confined spaces of Barnette. It's now drivable and weather tight.
We're off in 15 minutes to the "murder mystery" staff party. It's been raining all day and the rate is supposed to pick up with an inch falling overnight and another 1/2" tomorrow.
The email we received laid out the roles each of us are playing. I'm a stock broker and Pam's a jazz bassist. The biggest problem: this is set in the '20s. A stock broker from that era would have worn a suit nothing like the one I own. We have no idea what a period female jazz bassist would have worn. (Was there even women bassists back then?)
So here's a short post.
We're off!
