"You think I'm condescending. Do you even know what that means?"
My class this morning was a meh. Some days it all clicks and some days it doesn't. I didn't say anything stupid (that I remember) or wrong, it just didn't come together like I wanted.
Extra effort in prep for next week's class so that doesn't happen two weeks in a row.
Today was one of the very rare times I disagreed with a portion of Brett's sermon (his take on the "unpardonable sin"). But it's inconsequential because it doesn't affect anybody in the room.
The "meet the pastors lunch" afterward where people new to UFC could learn more about the church and meet the staff was...amazing. Turns out this guy who attends UFC and runs a large insurance agency is also a food wizard and prepared the lunch. I'm talking as fancy as anything I've ever had in any restaurant, both in taste and presentation. Lobster bisque, fruits, fancy cheeses and breads, salads... Wow!
I made walnut squares this evening. A family recipe that I took to the office a few weeks ago and were a big hit, especially with Faith, our exec. director. When I made cinnamon rolls a week ago she didn't get any because she came in at noon that day and they'd all been eaten by then. She found an empty pan on her desk....not happy! So I told her I'd make up for it by baking more walnut squares and keeping them in my office until she comes in at 11 tomorrow.
Her husband Garrett is my go-to guy for the class I teach. He does all the web site stuff, creates the name cards so I can learn who people are, and makes sure the room (the H.S. library) is all set up.
This morning he posted this from the Babylon Bee on his Facebook page.
And if you're not familiar with that eZine you should be. (Note: it is ALL sarcasm ALL the time.)
I know someone - we'll call her Sally - who puts on a persona that I've decided isn't her. It's hard to describe but she comes across as too cool, slightly snarky, and a notch above the rest of us. The stereotypical cheerleader type.
I've had opportunity to observe her in more candid moments with family members and see a whole different Sally. She's down to earth, sweet, and very compassionate.
Her persona is not unlikeable! She's fun, in part because her snarky is often clever sarcasm, and you know she's never being the least bit mean spirited. But I much prefer the sweet Sally.
I wonder if there's any way to penetrate the persona and get the real Sally.
Pam's at a baby shower for Marta's daughter Emily who, with her husband Levy, have also become VIFs. Emily is due to give birth to their first, a girl, in late May I think. Or is it April? I dunno and it doesn't matter because she's going to have it on or about her due date whether or not I know when that is.
I've got the classical music station playing through DishTV while I wait for the walnut squares to cool so I can frost them. (More sugar and butter.)
I'm going to do some surfing - news, car stuff, and tutorials about how to prune fruit trees, something I'm late getting to.
