Been to Europe?
What??
Yeah. They gave him a blood test and discovered code-violating levels of testosterone and a female fertility drug.
There are SO many things wrong with this. Why are they doing drug tests on bridge players? Could there be a "performance enhancing drug" in a card game?
And what is he thinking taking those two drugs?
VIF Debby told me about frozen bread dough as a shortcut and more consistent way to make cinnamon rolls. This week she gave me the recipe for orange rolls made out of the same dough. I'd mentioned to daughter Beth, in town to do grad work at U of O, that I'd learned the frozen dough trick from her mom and she asked if I'd made her orange rolls.
"I don't know about orange rolls!"
So I asked Debby and she sent me the recipe. They're rising now and will go in the oven as soon as that step is done.
I'll let you know how they turn out, but because the recipe came from Debby they will either be awesome or I screwed up.
I spent another couple of hours today shoveling and chipping away at the ice crusted mess that is our driveway and mid-afternoon I pulled Sally out of Barnette. She made it up the driveway and onto Baker Rd., so getting to church in the morning shouldn't be a problem even with the freezing temps we'll still have when I leave.
I'm hoping UPS will think my driveway is clear enough from big brown so I can get my parts delivered.
Tomorrow in class we'll talk briefly about Proverbs which they'll finish reading Monday. Then we'll talk about the two books they'll read the rest of the week, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon.
A couple of Jr. Highers attend with their parents. Oh to be a fly on the wall when they talk about class!
Three weeks ago we learned that the place where mom has lived the last year is closing down. My younger brother has done yeoman's work lining up a new place that will work very well for her. Tuesday our older brother is driving over from Spokane and I'll leave about 4 a.m. to drive up. Together with younger brother Mark we'll load her things into a truck and get them (and her) over to her new home. Then Scott and I will drive back to our homes Thursday.
I'm in good health and physically fit at 68 and working to stay that way. But if my mom's condition is predictive I sure don't want to see 96.
The orange rolls have been proving (rising) for a few hours now and it's time to pop them in the oven. After they cool I'll put the frosting on and give them a taste test. If the taste like Debby promises (that is, if I haven't goofed up somehow) I'll take them to church tomorrow to share with Garrett, my helper in class, and his wife Faith, the aforementioned exec. director.
