"A politician is a man who understands government. A statesman is a politician who's been dead for 15 years." - Harry S. Truman

Headline on USAToday.com: "Georgia sprinter accidentally impaled by javelin."
I'm thinking the word accidentally in that sentence is unnecessary.

I've been mentally and physically non-functional all day thanks to last night's effort. I'm sure that next week's class will be much less stressful in every respect. Last night included so many unknowns, including attendance, room setup, technology.... Most of those won't require nearly as much thought now that I know that my plan works re. those logistics.

The only task I got accomplished here at home was cleaning out the coop. Now that the old hens are gone I need to get it ready for the chicks I'll pick up this weekend.
The waterer has been leaking, something that's not a problem for mature hen but could be fatal for chicks just a few weeks old.
So the first step is to open up the coop and get it thoroughly dried out, which is what's happening now. Then I'l wash down the entire interior with a bleach solution so it's disinfected. I'll get a new waterer, maybe a different type.

Tomorrow morning I've got to get cranking on my prep for Sunday's class. The time and energy I put into last night's class has me a bit behind and that has me a bit anxious.
This week's content will include the book of Jonah and that's a favorite for several reasons. Fascinating story with details that go right by most readers and a punch line that's missed even more frequently.
We've got less than two weeks left of OT reading/class content. We move into the NT on 5/22. More Christians feel familiar with that part of their Bible, especially the Gospels, but I think there's a lot of background material they don't know that will seriously enhance their reading. We'll see if that's the case.

Pam's flight out leaves at 5:20 tomorrow so we'll be up and out early. I'll come back to eat breakfast and may head into the office after that and morning chores. That puts me there pretty early but the quiet space and a big cup of coffee should help me get a lot accomplished.
Besides, it's going to be 86 and sunny tomorrow so I'd rather be outside than in.
