"I'm sorry I hurt your feeligs when I called you stupid. I thought you knew." - unknown

It hasn't been a particularly good day so far. But it's only 1:30, so there's still time for it to get truly horrid.
(Can you tell I'm irritated?)

Stella's condition is...unknown. Judging from the mess on her hind end she had more discharge overnight but there hasn't been any today and she's acting normally. Marta says they typically come back into heat two months after a miscarriage which is about the same time she'd bag up if she was nearing kidding. So we just have to wait until late September (she's due 10/5) unless something goes obviously wrong.

It's now 8:20 p.m. Since I wrote the above....

We learned that the City of Eugene passed an ordinance that says you have to ASK for a straw when you order your drink. Silliness.

I can "drench" a goat. Dolly needed to be de-wormed now that she's kidded and that's done by forcing a liquid med down her throat with a big syringe-like device. It has a bent metal tube about the size of that straw you have to ask for, with a rounded end. After filling the syringe with the liquid I wrestled Dolly into the corner where she couldn't escape - no mean feat with a goat that weighs 160 lbs. and has four legs on the ground to my two - push the end of the tube in her mouth and push the plunger before she has time to freak. Hold her head up and jaw closed until she swallows.
Done!

Goulash and Haggis have each gained about 5 pounds since being born Monday afternoon. Almost a pound per day. That's a HUGE rate of gain. Marta says it's particularly good for a first time momma like Dolly.
Yeah, but with a name like that she shouldn't have any trouble with milk production.

There was neither time nor mental or physical energy for a run this afternoon. I planned on 3 miles after yesterday's 5 but I knew by 2:00 that wasn't going to happen. So I spent the afternoon working on Sally, prepping the left front fender for some repairs (welding in a patch) and then paint.

I need a shower, a cup of coffee, and bed. After a fairly stressful day I want to be recovered for my responsibilities tomorrow.
