"No matter how big and bad you are, when a two year old hands you a phone you answer it." - unknown

News headline on ABC.com: "Michelle Obama on why women need to put themselves first."
Yeah, there's a great way to live life, especially if you're a wife or mother. Beccase self-centerdness is always the key to healthy relationships.

Another beautiful summer day. I did church stuff all morning, including meeting with a mentee (yes, that's a real word even if it does sound like a sea creature from the Florida everglades) and making good progress on Brazil prep. Stopped at the feed store on the way home for hay and grain (they were out of alfalfa hay), and then made progress on Sally. Add in goat chores, Buddy time, and a run....
Good day all around.

It wasn't a particular hour, a day, or even a year. But at some point the major news outlets decided journalism includes shaping public opinion. Can anyone deny that they choose stories and present them in such a way as to boost some agenda items and diminish others? The latter category includes the current president and large corporations while the former includes LGBTQ rights, economic equality, and all things climate related.
Case in point: the major networks ignored the July 4th event in D.C. except to label it beforehand as a Trump scheme. No realtime coverage and none afterward. Never mind that the crowds were big and their response overwhelmingly positive.
The media's viewpoint seems to be that intelligent life exists on the two coasts and the heartland is populated by naive and gullible losers.
I suspect there's a relationship between that view and the movement to eliminate the electoral college. Whaddya think?

I had an interesting conversation with a barista at Starbucks this morning. I ordered my usual, a tall (small) brewed coffee, no room (for cream). It's the cheapest thing I can get and tastes like coffee. Just coffee.
"Dark or medium roast?"
OK, I'm proud of myself for being able to say what I want in Starbucks-ese. I am not prepared for multiple choice questions.
That led to a conversation with one of the managers that was sitting doing paperwork.
The longer coffee is roasted the darker it gets. The roasting process brings out more flavor (stronger) and also reduces the amount of caffeine and acid. The caffeine doesn't bother me but sometimes the acid does, so from now on I'll be drinking dark roast.
Apparently if I drank a "blond roast" I'd be bounding off the walls and fighting ulcers.

When you do a 4-mile out and back run, get to the turn around point and realize that not only is the return leg all uphill but that downhill out leg felt so good because the wind was at your back. And it isn't anymore.
An illustration in search of a sermon.
