"It's easy to sit up and take notice. What's hard is to get up and take action." - Honore de Balzac

It's Saturday morning. At 6:30 I've had b'fast, taken care of several emails, had a conversation via What'sApp with Brazil, watched Portuguese 101 videos on YouTube (decent download speed before 6 a.m.) and done some reading. Next up: walking Buddy and feeding the goats, including a screaming Dolly.
Dishes, lesson review, work on the Mustang, clean barn and coop, make a run to town for some supplies, more baking....
It's the last day of the next seven without significant rain in the forecast so outside tasks take priority.

Sometimes I feel like my life has too many pieces. But I don't want to eliminate any of them. Hmmmm.
Get up earlier?

The Portuguese word for breakfast is cafe da manhā, which literally means "coffee of the morning."
OK, they got that right. Three cups down so far.
They have two words for dear. One is more formal and used in greetings (Dear sir...) and the other expresses affection. That's nice, because sometimes you feel NO affection for the person to whom you're writing.

I wired a backup camera into the truck because it's impossible to see how close you are to anything when going in reverse. The truck had a CB radio when I got it so I took that out and put the camera on that circuit. It's a "switched circuit," which means it's only one when the ignition is turned on. I could have wired it into the reverse lights circuit so it was only on when in reverse but I thought it might be nice to have it on all the time. That turned out to be a meh, but not worth the hassle to change it.
Until that circuit failed. I don't know why, could't find something as simple as a bad fuse, and decided the easier fix was to wire it into a constant on circuit (always on, key in or not) and put a switch into that circuit. The reason that would be easier: I had already added that circuit so I could have a socket to plug my cell phone into. So I'd just tap into that, add an on/off toggle switch, and ... Boom!
Except that when I had it all done it blew a fuse. That was really too bad because getting the switch in where I wanted (convenient and looking like it belonged) required taking much of the dash apart and laying on the floor underneath it to do the wiring. Aaargh. I was not looking forward to troubleshooting and redoing that process.
The good news: after thinking about it overnight I decided the easiest place to start was with the switch. I could do that sitting in the driver's seat vs. laying down on my back under the dash. And...imagine that!... I had reversed the connection of 2 of the 3 wires. Flopped those around and it works!
I might have turned the switch on and off four or five times just to see how cool it turned out.
And you should know that if you're tailgating me I can turn on my camera, write down your license plate number and...do absolutely nothing with it.

It's now 1 p.m. and I just got back from town. Lunch at McD's (blech) and a couple of things from the grocery store, including a box of Ande's mints. Pam showed me how to make brownies and melt those as the frosting. Mmmm! I signed up for dessert for our small group Monday night and I'm going to make those. I pick her up at the airport and we'll head right out to Roundy's house (host) so I'll bake them either tonight or tomorrow so they're ready to go.

Why are they trying so hard to make me feel guilty about our country's (and my) contribution to climate change and saying nothing about the much more significant impact of China and India? I'm a reprobate for eating a hamburger (cows fart, producing methane gas) when the pollution is so bad in those foreign countries that people are dying of lung disease.

It's now 7:30, or an hour from bedtime. My to-do list is just barely shorter than it was when I got up this morning but for some reason I don't really care.
I went to town and got the special mints I need to make those brownies. I'll do that tomorrow afternoon. I'll also stop on the way home from church and get the longer bolts I need to install the front fender guards. Once that's done and the turn signal wiring reconnected all that's left is the rocker moldings (assuming the turn signals work) and she's ready for the road. I should have noted the start date on this project, but it was probably three months ago. But a good makeover takes time.

Coffee, a couple of ginger cookies, and bed.
Amanhã
