Monday with a twist

I'm not a real big fan of Sunday nights. Some people think I'm a perfectionist but I prefer to think of it as having appropriately high standards for myself. This isn't like landscaping a yard, painting a room, or even piloting a motorcycle through a tight curve on a mountain road. Goof up the drip system, get some paint on the baseboard or miss the apex and it's no big deal. OK, miss the apex by too much and it could be a big deal.
But preaching/teaching the Word of God rises to a whole different level. A holy charge, it leaves no room for error, nothing less than the very best that is possible. So Sunday nights mean thinking back to how very much better the task could have been done.

I'm going to spend a lot of time praying about Pathway this week. We're now seven weeks into this ministry and while I am very pleased with what we've accomplished so far, we have mile markers to pass. The people have been absolutely great about inviting others, and we recognize that God is ultimately responsible for outcomes. But James says, "You do not have because you do not ask God" (James 4:2). If the next few weeks don't bring significant progress it won't be because the pastor didn't ask! God is sovereign and I readily submit to his good and perfect will. But if he wants me to ask...he's got it!
Also for wisdom (again, see James 1:5).

I did the preacher's zonk after we got home but I woke up in time to see Mickelson win the tourney in Los Angeles. It used to be called the L.A. Open and I went one year with Ron Robinson. It's fun watching on TV what I saw in person. And I'm a fan of Mickelson's, so that was a bonus.
Then I switched over and caught the last 25 laps of the Daytona 500. Amazingly, they were going around in counter clockwise circles just like they were when I watched the first few laps before my zonk. So what exactly did I miss?
I am always surprised when I see the camera shots of the driver inside the car. That steering wheel is within inches of his chest. Looks like the drivers out here in Sun City, driving their Buicks, albeit at 25 mph (even on streets with a 40 mph speed limit).
Are the NASCAR drivers in that position because of the cramped quarters, or is there some ergonomic advantage?

A bomb went off at a dog fight in Afghanistan yesterday. What kind of dogs do they fight in Afghanistan? I'm thinking Irish Setters.

I'm taking a look at a couple of rentals tomorrow morning, one with a plumbing issue and one with an electrical problem. But I should be done by lunch. The afternoon plans?
It's going to be in the mid-70's tomorrow. I think the preacher needs the therapy of a ride up to Wickenburg via Vulture Mine Road.
I'll try not to miss the...what's the plural of apex?
Anyway, I'm going to try to hit the best line through all the curves. And Vulture Mine Road has a lot of them!
