There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.

You gotta watch this ESPN clip:
Breaking Barriers

I had a good day. Not because everything went smoothly, but because it included some paying work and because I got to do one of my favorite things (no, I didn't take that motorcycle ride).

I worked at a couple of rentals. One involved a ceiling fan with a light fixture that shorts out the entire circuit every time it's turned on. All the connections are good and the wall switch is fine, so I suspect the problem is within the fixture. It is equipped with a remote control unit (the controller has long since disappeared) which may be the culprit. I was, however, able to fix the porch light.
On to house number two where I replaced a leaking kitchen faucet. Normally I'd just put in a new washer kit but this one had been leaking for so long that it was badly rusted. Had a little trouble getting the hot water connection to go back on without dripping but some teflon tape got that under control.

Afterward I talked with one of the couples who attend Pathway. We talked about things we've covered over the last couple of Sundays, including some questions they had.
I have no trouble making conversation; I got what my mom calls the gift of gab. But one of my favorite things to do is discuss the Bible, to sit around a kitchen table and work through issues from a biblical perspective. It really doesn't get any better than that, does it?

I got home in time to watch the last part of Andy Pettite's press conference at the Yankee's spring training facility. Hard not to feel sorry for the guy. He is the antithesis of Roger Clemmens. One is combative, aggressive and defiant. The other is embarrassed, contrite and open about his failure.
Yes, you could argue that Clemmens protests his innocence so aggressively because he is innocent. But you'd be pretty much on your own in that opinion.

Another cop got shot here today. He's going to be OK, but he still took two in the chest. His vest saved his life.
It started when a guy snagged the tip jar at a car wash. He ran into a nearby garage and when the cops approached he shot the officer. The others returned fire and killed the thief.
He shot a cop and then died for the few bucks in a tip jar.

We've been paying close attention to the weather in Grand Rapids in light of Pam's trip there this Friday. Not lookin' so good.
Just so long as it's all cleared up by the first week in March!

I heard a guy on NPR today who is really bothered that we disrespect the Presidents that President's Day is supposed to honor. He thinks we ignore the contribution these great men made to our country by turning the day into little more than a weekend for home improvement projects and retail sales.
Sounds a lot like Christmas to me.

Oklahoma: like the play, only no singing.
