Sunday Night Sites

You'll need to click on this pic in order to enlarge it. And you need to enlarge it to see the detail. This is a photo of 18,000 servicemen wearing their uniforms and positioned in such a way as to create the Statue of Liberty.

If you use Wikipedia - and I use it a lot - you'll enjoy this. If you don't use Wikipedia you probably won't get the spoof.

Absolutely nothing is true. But go ahead and poke around. It's pretty funny.

My grandfather spent his adult life as a logger in the northwest. Dad was born in a logging camp out on Washington's Olympic Peninsula. I was too young, but Grandad took my older brother out to the logging camp near the end of his working years. That was back in the day when they still walked into the woods with axes and wedges. What do you suppose Grandad would make of this?

I don't know if this is amazing or scary or both.

This one's going to cause a stir...I hope.
TIME magazine's cover story this week is titled "The Clean Energy Myth" and it makes the case that biofuels, specifically ethanol, is a scam. You can buy the mag or read the article here:

One person could be fed for 365 days on the corn needed to fill the tank of an ethanol-fueled SUV.
Only sugarcane-based ethanol is efficient enough to cut emissions by more than it takes to produce the fuel. The rest of the "green fuels" are net carbon emitters.

Church this morning was fun. We all agreed afterward that it felt a lot more like church than being in J & A's home. Chairs instead of couches makes a huge difference, as does a clearly defined space with a "front" to it. We think this is the ideal site for the next stage of Pathway's development as a church. We figured this morning would be a shakedown experience but we only came up with a couple of minor things we'll do differently.
One of the visitors to last week's Easter service in the park was back this morning. That was encouraging! And her feedback on both mornings was positive.
We're working on developing a logo so we can do sandwich boards, brochures, a web site and all the rest of the things that create a presence in the community.
I took my camera fully intending to take pictures but we got going with the morning's activities and I forgot all about it until we were packing up.
I'm impatient for Pathway Bible Church to grow!

Oh yeah. I think the sermon went OK. Again, I can't see inside people so I don't know how it was received, but it went out the way I intended. That really is a powerful chapter! And going from it to very familiar verses, like John 3:16, puts those verses in a whole new light.

Tomorrow I'm meeting Josh W. at his church and we're riding out to Tortilla Flats, a 90 mile trip out into the hills east of Phoenix, population: 6. The only thing there is a cool restaurant where the seats at the bar are saddles. We'll have lunch.

Of course the real reason for the trip is the very twisty road that goes through the canyon on the way to Tortilla Flats.

What's the hardest part of being you?
