This is what you get on a Sunday evening
Headline on CNN.com: "Soul legend Isaac Hayes Dies at 65." Did you know he was Korean??
We had pork chops for dinner. I felt bad for Shari Lewis. Then I remembered she's dead.
Commercials are sometimes better than the shows in which they appear. (The previous sentence an homage to Sir Winston Churchill.) Here's a clever one:
Non-Blinking World Record
And this one for Fiat is a couple of years old but it's still funny. And since they don't sell Fiats in the U.S. you may not have seen it.
Don't Touch
I've come to realize that while my bicycling is certainly good for my heart and builds lower body strength it isn't doing anything for my aerobic capacity. I think that's part of my problem in the pool; I'm out of aerobic shape. Add to that the tension of trying not to drown and I quickly lose my breath. So I'm going to work on that, which means finding ways to push my aerobic limits without swallowing a gallon of pool water.
The Russian military actions against Georgia are scary. Way too reminiscent of the old Soviet Union. The Russians have the technical ability to launch the same kind of precision bombing attacks that we used in the Iraq invasion. So why have they destroyed apartment buildings? The Georgians say they have withdrawn their forces from the disputed territory and want a cease fire, yet the Russians are still attacking. Is Vladimir Putin displaying the fruits of his KGB roots?
This may be over in a week or it could be the story that dominates the news - and the campaign debates - for months to come.
BTW, McCain is on record as being concerned about what he has called the militaristic and expansionist tendencies of the current Russian government.
We had a great morning at Pathway. Lots of positive things. It may be necessary to buy more chairs soon. God is good.
T'ank you, Fadder!
