He does the work of three men: Larry, Curly and Moe.
Short post tonight. My Saturday rides are now long enough that they leave me feeling whooped for the better part of the day. I think that the extra food last night and a Gu packet at the 25-mile mark helped, but I don't like how tired I am after a ride of this distance. Doesn't bode well for the weeks ahead and the longer distances I want to reach. I think I'm going to increase the mileage of my mid-week rides so that Saturday's LSD isn't as as big a jump from what I've been doing on the other rides.
Tonight we went to a combined b'day party for Megan and Caedon. Meagan's b'day was last Thursday and Caedon's is early next month, so J & A put on an Olympic-themed party with games for the kids. And there were lots of kids. But that's what happens when you invite the families from Pathway. (Some other friends there, too.) We're now running something like a dozen kids, all under the age of 6, and most under the age of 3. I love it!
What's going on in Georgia is really troubling. In some ways the situation bears a resemblance to the situation in China - outlying provinces with a different ethnic makeup. But in this case Georgia is now independent from Russia, a breakaway from the former Soviet Union. Since then, Georgia's government has built close ties with western nations, including the U.S., and Russia ain't happy 'bout dat. The Russian invasion of Georgia is, according to the Russians, an effort to protect the Russian citizens who live there. But if news reports are to be believed, they have extensively bombed civilian areas.
It's going to be interesting to watch the international reaction to this action. Will the west take a stand on behalf of the Georgians?
Everything is ready for tomorrow. Even the bulletins are folded and stuffed. So I'm headed for bed. I read about the Olympics results online so there's no reason to watch it. And for this preach, a good night's sleep is essential headed into a Sunday morning.
