Cinnamon. Because that's how I roll.

Did you hear the latest? Roland Burris, the guy Blago picked to fill that Senate seat is now in trouble himself. He now admits that, contrary to the testimony he gave to the Illinois legislature under oath, he was indeed asked to raise money for the now-impeached Gov.
We now eagerly wait to see what the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate will do with Burris.
Right.

On a disturbingly similar note, a week after beating up his girlfriend Chris Brown says he's "sorry and deeply saddened" by what he did. Well, he didn't actually say it; his publicist did, on Brown's behalf. Hey, that takes care of it for me! Besides, the publicists tells us Chris is getting counseling from family members. What more can we ask?

We had three families and parts of another gone this morning. That's the bad news. The good news is that we had three families and parts of another gone and still had enough to have church. A year ago we would have climbed in a car and gone for coffee.
The husband of one of the absent families leads the singing, so I led this morning. I'm pretty sure that task put me over my mental capacity; I forgot the offering. When a pastor forgets the offering...!

Here is a collection of vintage photos. Kinda cool.

I went to that VW show after church. Because it started at 8 a.m. many of the cars were gone by the time I got there, but I still saw over 100 VW's and it was well worth the price I paid to get in (free).
Only two 67's there, so I would have taken third place if I'd entered. The downside is that I wanted to get a look at what a bone stock '67 looked like and these two had both been modified, if only slightly.
Probably 90% of the other classic Beetles had been heavily modified. Beetles can be tricked out pretty cheaply because lots of companies sell modifications - everything from lowering kits to chrome and billet engine components. I also saw a lot of "rat rods" - heavily modified Beetles with high-performance equipment (hot rod) with no effort to make them look good (rat). All of that made me realize just how much I like Gerta's stock look.
The real benefit of the time I spent there was meeting George. He's the pres. of one of the local VW clubs and the guy I had an email conversation with about Gerta before I bought her. He told me to look him up so I did. I asked him about the best solution for my spare tire dilemma (see last night's post). He said the best option is to get one of the original bias ply tires used for these cars. It fits, looks cool, and will serve to get you home in a pinch. He told me he has a half dozen of them out behind his garage and his wife would be thrilled if he gave one of them away. So I'll go to their next meeting and come home with a great tire.

Our NBA team, the Phoenix Suns, fired Mike D'Antoni in the off-season and hired Terry Porter to coach the team. They gave him a 3-year contract worth just shy of $3 million. The Suns stink, having won only six of their last 16 games. So here we are at the All Star break, which divides the season in half, and the Suns have just fired Coach Porter. But don't feel too bad for him, he's still going to get paid for the entire three years.
I've decided I should be an NBA head coach.

I got no brain left over. That's it. I'm going to stick my face in the pan of walnut squares Pam made for me and stay there until my gut is bursting, then go to bed.
G'night.
