If we went back to rotary phones we wouldn't have to press one for English.
I am totally whooped. But it was a great day. I had fun. Church was good.
We prayed with a family headed into a very critical stretch, with the lives of two adorable children on the line. Pathway cares a LOT about children and we take very seriously our responsibility to support this family with our prayers on their behalf until this issue is resolved.
The Dusty and Quinn, visiting from Colorado, told us about their participation in a ministry to a poverty ridden community 18 miles south of Juarez, Mexico. We have an opportunity to participate if we have any adults interested in taking a limited number of open slots for the next trip in November. Based on my conversations after church we have a problem...more people interested than slots available.
Then, after lunch with the Andersons (Dusty, Quinn and their three terrific kids) four of us from church met up at The Wigwam and played the blue course. Todd and I were winning big when Matt mysteriously lost the score card. He blamed it on the 30 mph winds, with gusts close to 40 mph. It was brutal. We literally had some putts blown off course. But Todd and I are pretty sure we saw Matt throw the scorecard up in the air, and Jeff wasn't talking.
Lots of laughs and nobody taking themselves too seriously. Plus, Todd gave me some very helpful advice about my swing (he's very good).
The people are the best part of being a pastor and I am having lots of fun.
This morning was, IMHO, particularly important because it represented a significant step in our maturation as a congregation. We have an opportunity to express our commitment to one of our families by surrounding them with prayer for the next two weeks. And the Juarez ministry is our first reach beyond our church to those in need - physical and spiritual. God is growing Pathway in many ways.
I think this is legit. What do you think?
Extreme Shepherding
That's it for tonight. I really am pooped. See you in 24.
