When I want your opinion my wife will beat it out of you.

Short post tonight. We're coming up on The Tonight Show, a sure sign that I'm up past my bedtime. Tonight was our elder meeting, the reason for the late hour.
But we got good stuff done tonight. I'll give you the specifics just as soon as we have all the details worked out. This is going to be fun!

According to the latest jobless figures Michigan has the worst unemployment rate in the country, at 11.6%, up 4.3% from a year ago. That state has certainly been deeply affected by plummeting auto sales but there's more to it than that, IMHO. One has to ask, why aren't businesses moving into a state with that kind of unemployed workforce? Why have foreign manufacturers built new auto factories in places like Tennessee? And why have high-tech business passed over Michigan when they look for places to expand?
I never understood how Gov. Granholm (D) got re-elected. McCain pulled out of Michigan a couple of months before the election because they figured he didn't have a chance there. If ever there was a place where running against Democratic policies should work it's Michigan.
Never underestimate the power of a large, well-organized union, even when exercising that power ultimately proves self-destructive.

This morning I got the section of the fuel line that runs from the fuel pump to the carb replaced. That's the pressurized portion of the line and the section that was leaking. I started working on the rubber portions of the rest of the run - from the tank up front to the fuel pump in back - but quickly figured out I need to drain the tank in order to complete that part of the job. Because the tank is higher than the engine gravity keeps gas in the line. So taking off one end of the line produced a steady stream of gas. I filled the tank up a couple of days ago and my little catch can wasn't going to hold 10 gallons of gas. So I reconnected the line and postponed the rest of the job. At least now an engine fire isn't a concern.

OK, I gotta get to bed. Lots on tomorrow's agenda, so I need to sleep fast.
I'll make up for it tomorrow night.
