I wish Googling myself produced better results.

Ahhh. So sweet.

Next time you think your job sucks...

Do you read that Phil Mickelson's wife Amy has breast cancer? Sad. From what I've heard and read she's a favorite on the tour who often walks the course and chats easily with spectators.

We are always very careful to have Al on a leash and the leash firmly in hand whenever we take him out. Today reminded us why. I had him about 10' out the door when something, I think a small bird, took off from right in front of us. It was pure instinct. In a fraction of a second, so fast that I didn't realize what had happened, Al was in full chase mode. The leash only allowed him one stride but it was so powerful that it instantly yanked my arm straight out. And when all the slack in my arm and in the leash was used up Al's head came to a sudden stop. But even in that short distance his powerful body had built up so much momentum that his back half kept going right on past his head.
These are amazing dogs.

President Obama promised that he'd close Guantanamo within one year of taking office. It seems he forgot to check with the Democratic members of Congress who have refused to allot the funds to accomplish that closure. Seems none of them want terrorists in their district.

Somewhere in Texas there's a recently retired executive smiling wryly and saying to himself, "Welcome to real life, Ace."

Pam does the week's shopping on Wednesday and this time it included getting me more deodorant. Don't know why, but she never gets the same thing twice. Same with toothpaste. Maybe it's what's on sale; it doesn't make a lot of difference to me. This week it meant a deodorant with a label proudly declaring it comes with "Silver Ions."
I don't know how they got those Saturns in that little plastic container but I sure don't want 'em in my armpits.

I haven't been keeping close track, but so far the President has fired the CEO of GM, established the condtions under which GM and Chrysler must seek bankruptcy, pressured B of A to buy Merrill Lynch, and most recently defined the terms credit cards must use in extending revolving credit to consumers. There's more, I'm sure.

Several times lately I've come across a term I wasn't familiar with: statist (adj.), the noun form is statism.
I looked it up on Wikipedia.
  1. Government having a major role in the direction of the economy, both through state-owned enterprises and indirectly through the central planning of overall economy.
  2. The "concentration of economic controls and planning in the hands of a highly centralized government"
Seems to fit here. Of concern?

Pam and I disagree about who should win the Cleveland/Orlando series. One of us is rather pleased tonight. (That would be me.)

Started working on my sermon today. I want to do particularly well with this one.
