Trees - all bark and no bite.

A Mother's Day Special for all moms everywhere. (click to enlarge)

Why is toast more palatable than bread? Does toasting it do something besides just dry it out and turn it brown?

Al is fine. He was obviously feeling better by the time we went to bed and was, for reasons I can't begin to imagine, ready for action at 3 a.m. When he thinks something (??) should be happening that isn't he whines. So I got up and let him out, and then one of us could get back to sleep.
I sat in my chair and Al went back to the bedroom. A little bit later I thought I heard him hurling so I went back to check. False alarm: It was Pam snoring.

It has now been three weeks since I "saw the light" going through the photo-radar zone on the freeway downtown. I think that means it was someone else who triggered the cameras. Of course just writing that sentence means I'll get the ticket in Monday's mail.

I did my LSD (Long Slow Distance) ride this morning before it got too hot. I'm working on my riding technique, including riding in an upright position, no hand on the bars. That allows me to get food out of my jersey pockets - in this case a pb&j - unwrap it and eat it without stopping. I know in my head that the key is to ride relatively fast. The spinning wheels function as gyroscopes, helping to keep the bike upright. So the slower I go the more difficult it is to ride sans hands. But riding fast without holding on to the handlebars is very counter-intuitive.
There's a sermon illustration here.

Yao Ming out with a broken foot. That ends whatever slim chance the Rockets had. I want the Lakers to advance but not because the other team's leading scorer goes down.

I saw an ad on TV today for a new men's deodorant that comes in three versions, one if you have sensitive sking, one if you perspire heavily and...are you ready?...one if you have especially hairy armpits!
What group of corporate wizards thought that one up??

I liked this news story. And I think the people taking such offense should check to see if the guy isn't right.

My head is too wrapped up in tomorrow's sermon & lesson to have any more for tonight's post. Tomorrow night I'll have the wisdom of the ages right here for all to read. For now I'm going to go sit some more with 2 Kings 5. Great story! Powerful meaning.
