I got a much needed haircut this week. There was quite a stretch when the same gal cut it. Just coincidence. The last few times she's either not been there or busy cutting someone else's hair, so I've had a different ... what do you call them? They're not barbers and the term stylist certainly doesn't fit what they do for me.
This gal, after she was done cutting my hair, sprayed it again with water, sort of combed it and then just used her hands to smoosh it around. When she was done it looked like I needed to comb my hair.
I guess that's the way it's supposed to be now. After 15+ years of going out to the garage, bending over the trash can and buzzing off my own hair every two weeks I'm still adjusting to going to whatever it is they're called. And having smooshed hair violates the core values passed down to me by my very precise and perfectly made-up mother.
Lacoste clothing is the stuff with an alligator on it. I'd never thought about why, but realized that brand is most common around the world of tennis. Yesterday I learned why.
A French tennis player, Rene' Lacoste, was nicknamed "the alligator" by the American press during the height of his career, back in the 20's. As a result, a French clothing manufacturer made Rene' clothing with the alligator embroidered on it for his personal use, but soon realized there was a market for the blazers, sweaters and shirts he was wearing. So they began manufacturing clothing for the tennis, golf and sailing markets.
This was the first example of putting an identifiable logo on the outside of clothing.
Preachers know to expect lower attendance on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend and I wasn't disappointed. We have several families enjoying the long weekend by traveling to far away (and cooler) places. But we also had visitors - a family of four who stayed for the second hour and gave us very good feedback.
Preachers feed off of that kind of thing for days.
Here's a website with braille sudoku puzzles.
How does that work???
That's all I got on a Sunday night. It's time for supper and then an early bedtime. I have big plans for tomorrow, including an early bike ride and getting back to Gerta. I am SO close...
