Today was productive. This morning’s ride (30 miles) went well. By the time I got home we were already into the 90’s so staying hydrated is a challenge. I wish I didn’t have to ration my water but I don’t have re-fill options until I’m four miles from home. Next Saturday, when I bump the mileage up anther notch my route will change. Instead of riding up into Vistancia, where there’s nothing but subdivisions I’ll ride down the 303. That will take me to a retail area at the turn around that includes a McDonalds. Water and restrooms.
The new axle seal arrived with today’s mail so I took the fan out to the garage and went to work. It’s almost a shame that I’m this efficient at taking apart and reassembling the rear wheels. Brakes removed, axle seal assembly put together (in the new, revised order), assembly reinstalled, brakes put back in, hub on and castle nut tightened down (250 lbs. of torque). Refilled with tranny oil. So far, NO LEAKS!
Could we be getting close??
I think Pam’s getting frustrated. I keep asking for more food.
Yes, I know I could get it myself, but that would deprive her of the blessing she gets from fixing for me.
We’ll have VERY special guests at Pathway tomorrow morning. The Husas are driving out from Mesa. I’m eager for them to meet the Pathway folks (many are gone again this week) and visa versa. Lord willing this will be the first of many interactions with them. Great family doing a great work. I wish they were going to be in the U.S. longer but they return to Papau New Guinea in late Sept. or early Oct.
I am very appreciative of their willingness to make the trip tomorrow - almost an hour’s drive for a service that begins at 9 a.m., and they come with a 4-year old, a 2-year old and an infant. Good people.
Tomorrow’s sermon falls outside the normal guidelines of homiletics. I’ve got a proposition; I think I’m incapable of preaching without one. But instead of the 10% intro it’s almost 50-50. This is a set-up sermon, designed to introduce an 8-week series on the Christian disciplines. So in a sense the whole thing is an intro.
I used to walk my sermons every Saturday evening. I wish it wasn’t so hot here; at 6:30 we’re still in triple digits. This sermon needs walking.

Are your sermons recorded in any way? Can I listen to them somehow?
