Kinky is using a feather. Perverted is using the whole chicken.

Had a lousy night, woke up with "intestinal issues," and thought seriously about skipping this morning's ride. But I have theorized that the workouts you do when you don't feel like exercising bring at least 30% more benefit. When I got home my bike's computer said it was a perfectly legit ride - the pace was just what it should have been for this distance.

All the envelopes are addressed and stuffed. Tomorrow I'll get the stamps and mail them.
The master CD's came today, so tomorrow I'll go through them thoroughly to make sure everything is correct, and if it is I'll take them for duplication. I'm closing in on the end to what has been a major project, almost on a par with the book.

I weighed myself this morning for the first time in months.
I am officially skinny.
But it's not for lack of food, because I'm eating 4 meals a day and more in between. I'm hungry pretty much all the time.
What would happen if I didn't eat?

This afternoon I did one of my favorite things; I visited with a family new to Pathway. They have four adorable little girls (more kids!!) and a dog named Dude. They came to Pathway because they were looking for a church where they'd be taught the Bible. After spending time at several churches in the area and getting frustrated with the lack of biblical preaching, they found Pathway online (we have a good website), and decided that maybe a church with Bible in the name would be a place they could learn and grow.

We talked about why, especially in the West Valley, there's such a dearth of Bible teaching churches. I think there's a reasonable explanation for the phenomenon that has to do with the West Valley's rapid growth and the "seeker church" movement. But we agreed that the inevitable outcome will be immature believers susceptible to a variety of problems.

Years ago I knew a man, now with the Lord, who served a small church in central Illinois as their lay pastor. He told me he wanted to commission a painting in which two shepherds, one old and one young and clearly new at his job, stand over a flock of sickly, emaciated sheep. The older shepherd says to the younger one, "Maybe you should try feeding them."

I think I know what would happen if I didn't eat. I think I see it happening to too many Christians in the contemporary church. It's called malnourishment, whether physical or spiritual. And sooner or later the problems of malnourishment are serious.
And there's nothing quite like a really good meal!

Which is why I'm now going to have #4, followed by DESSERT!
