"I am free of all prejudice. I hate everyone equally." - W. C. Fields

We had a great time with Mauri & Sherry last night at their very cool house in Newberg, OR. I asked which of them was the decorator and they’ve done it together. Every room feels very comfortable and holds all kinds of interesting things to look at. Great food at that house, too. But the time visiting was the best. On the way back to the campground Pam commented on how nice it is to be able to pick up where you left off, even if it was years ago.
Before dinner at the Macy’s we spent the day out at the coast.
Lesson #1: Don’t trust the lady inside the GPS unit. She’ll send you on what may be the shortest route, but that’s all it has going for it. The first clue this wasn’t the preferred way to get out to Tillamook came when we noticed ours was the only vehicle on the very, very, VERY twisty road. When it turned to gravel we told her in no uncertain terms we were done trusting her implicitly.

The Tillamook Cheese Factory shuts down one day each year for “scheduled maintenance.”
Yep.
And since we were last there, 25 years ago, the place has gone from quaint stop to a major tourist attraction. Based on the crowds in the gift shop we concluded others also didn’t know about shutdown.
From there we took the scenic loop just south of Tillamook that included a short hike in the forest, a stop at Cape Mears Lighthouse, a brief walk along the beach and a view of “The Three Arches.”

We were up at 4:30 this morning to pack up camp, hit the road northbound at 6:30 and arrived at the folks’ church in north Seattle about 11:30. They arrived shortly thereafter and we enjoyed a lunch featuring fresh, baked salmon put on by and for their adult Sunday School class. Now we’re ready to head for dinner at The Ida Culver House, the folks’ new home.

Anytime you want to see someone cut the cheese - just let me know. You can tour the Steve-a-mook olfactory.

We have a few (real) cheese factories around here, if you're ever in the neighborhood.

I bet your evening with the Macy's went WAY too quickly.

Breathtaking pictures!
