A deviation from this blog's norm, this isn't a funny pic. At least not intentionally.Every other Sunday the kids come up during the worship service for a brief object lesson. I'm typically surrounded by 17 or 18 boys and girls ages 3-8, with another 4 or 5 back in the nursery. Two infants are in the service with their moms.
Of all the things happening at Pathway, none rates higher in importance than our ministry to these kids. They are the future of Pathway and God's work in the world. What an exciting and awesome responsibility.
I did not leave on my 40-mile ride at 6:30 a.m. as planned. Instead, I left at 11:00 a.m. for a 12-mile ride. That would be an hour after the bike shop opened. You can guess the rest, but this time a slight twist - new tires.
BTW, you can almost buy car tires for what they charge for a basic bike tire.
Tomorrow I'll do the 40, then take Friday off and do 65 Saturday - the same distance as last week. That will still give me about 160 for the week.
Alberto Contador of Spain won this year's Tour de France. Today it was revealed that he failed a drug test during one stage of the Tour. A news conference is scheduled for tomorrow.
I'm not using any performance enhancing drugs. You'd know that if you saw me ride.
NJ Governor Christie and Rep. Paul Ryan (R - Wisc.) seem like very intelligent guys with a grasp of the issues and legitimate conservative chops. Do some reading on Rep. Ryan's "Roadmap for America's Future." Interesting.
Paper napkins, the kind we buy hundreds at a time in the big cellophane "bales," seem like a lot of waste. Why do I need something that big, folded in fourths, to wipe spaghetti sauce of my chin? I've taken to using a sheet of paper towel - and Pam gets the rolls perforated with the half-sheets.
I worked on my message during the time I intended to be riding. This week is Jonah 3. Again, some interesting exegetical issues, but mostly it's a powerful story about the power of the gospel. I'm looking forward to it.
