India's first astronaut returned to earth this weekend. We have these really sleazy lawyers who advertise on TV here a thousand times a day...at least. Phillips and Associates. Two of the firms’ principles who appear in their ads were suspended by the bar last year for allowing employees in the firm not licensed to practice law do work restricted to those who are.
I was shocked - yes, shocked - to see their ads on TV when I visited my folks in Seattle last week. They have several offices in the Seattle metro area.
Insert your favorite lawyer joke here.
This is a real cold. I told Pam this morning I would try to hold out until noon because coroners are especially busy on Monday mornings.
I had thought about hitting the golf course today. I haven’t been there in weeks and we hit 81 degrees this afternoon. Drat!
Instead I did some work on the project. Saturday I put the caps on the wall and this afternoon I painted the stucco with DryLok, a waterproofing paint. Tomorrow I'll backfill around the outside and maybe get started on the electrical.
See that orange tree in the background? It's coming out tomorrow morning. That's where the raised rose bed will go, using the dirt from my excavation. This pic was taken from our slider. So our view as we sit in our chairs watching TV will be the rose garden in the background and the ? in the foreground. (Do you have it figured out yet?)

An emaciated kitty came up to our slider this morning. Thankfully, Pam agreed we couldn’t do anything to help without tacitly adopting the thing. It wandered off in search of more compassionate (foolish) folk about the same time Jack noticed it. After running over to the slider he looked back at us with this “Please??” expression on his face, but we knew it was all about a mid-morning snack.
I don’t understand something and maybe you can help. The argument against extending tax cuts to the “very rich” is that they don’t spend the money, therefore it doesn’t stimulate the economy. I’ll stipulate that they don’t spend the money they’ll keep via extended tax cuts, thought I haven’t seen any documentation to support that claim. I suppose you can only own so many Porsches and Mercedes. But if they don’t spend it they also don’t hide it under their mattresses. They put it (leave it) in their portfolios where it sits in banks, the stock market, etc. That puts it “in the economy,” right? If Reginald McRich keeps an extra million dollars via an extended tax breaks that money gets invested so as to earn him more money. And those investments are just like spending except not by him personally. It may get loaned out through banks to people buying Kias, or building a new wing on a hospital, or funding capital improvements at a widget factory. So how come they say giving rich people a tax break doesn’t do anything for the economy? What am I missing here?
Of course the alternative is for the Federal Government to keep the tax money, because the last two years have demonstrated how effectively they stimulate the economy.

Electronic Pickpocket
Do you have one of the new cards?
SCORE!
We got a check for just over $200 today because our escrow account is over-funded. And our monthly mortgage payment is going down $10 per month.
Now I can get that surgery I need.
We've spent the last few weeks in my adult class talking about conflict resolution in marriage.
We finally finished "Dancing with the Stars" as competition for Monday Night Football and now they've got some singing competition show. Pam watched the first episode last week while I was at my folks' and decided it's a GREAT show.
Now what?

Lydia thinks it will be a place to collect water for watering the rosebushes. I think it will be either a hot tub (or a cold tub?).
A water lily pool?
Jenny - thanks for the mental image of my parents in a hot tub. That's the Christmas gift that will keep on giving.
Okay...a reflecting pool, then.
