"It is a profitable thing, if one is wise, to seem foolish." - Aeschylus

I wanna believe this has been photoshopped. Don't ya think?

Shouldn’t the people who answer the “Customer Service” number know something about their own product? ‘cause when she puts me on hold after each question I get the strong suspicion she’s asking someone else for the answers.

I had b’fast this morning with Josh W. and then went to the airport to pick up Pam (yay!). Normally I’d wait in the cell phone lot but the time between leaving The Place (great food at very reasonable prices) and the arrival time of her flight was too long. Just not long enough to warrant going back home. Besides, the auction was going to end during that interval and I wanted to see the results via the airport’s free wi-fi.

The area at the airport where arriving passengers meet waiting family is a nice place to sit. Lots of joy, hugs and happiness. An excited little girl: “HI, NANA!!”

That was fun.

One of the guys coming up the chute from the planes said in an artificially loud and unashamed voice, complete with thick Boston accent, “Hi mom! I’ve missed you SO much!” I turned to see who he was meeting and saw an elderly woman with the hair loss that says cancer treatment.

Lots of stories at an airport.

The auction ended with what I think is a fair price for buyer and seller. Sure, I would have liked more but it exceeded my reserve, the minimum amount I thought made good sense. Both the buyer (Pennsylvania) and seller are new to a vehicle transaction over the internet but it seems like everything will work out fine.

As you’ve undoubtedly heard on the news, today is the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. Over 600,000 Americans died during that 4-year conflict, more than in WWI, WWII and Vietnam combined.

On April 13th, 66 years ago Norman and UnaJean MacDonald were married. It was a Friday that year, debunking any notion about Friday the 13th being unlucky.

Congratulations, Mom & Dad, and thanks for being such a powerful example of love and commitment over the long haul.

A couple of short videos for no particular reason.

Amazing hockey penalty shot

and

Amazing soccer kick(s)

I've got more in my head but I need to get some work done. Between b'fast and the airport I lost the morning, and much of the afternoon was spent working out details of the VW transaction. So I'm off to tackle some tasks for Sunday. I'll do better tomorrow night, promise.
