"Drugs have taught an entire generation of Americans the metric system." - P.J. O'Rourke

Michelle Bachmann promised that if she's President the price of gasoline will be below $2 a gallon. "That will happen."
Rick Perry says the actions of Ben Bernanke have been "almost treasonous" and that if the Fed Chairman were in Texas instead of D.C. he would have been treated "pretty ugly."
Please, Rep. Paul. If you're family is OK with it please enter the race to be the Republican candidate for President.

This morning, while I prepped for Sunday, I had iTunes playing the music from my drive that it has deemed "classical." I would not have put Bobby McFerrin in with Mozart but I defer to the wisdom of Steve Job's algorithm.

Speaking of Mr. Jobs, I upgraded to the Lion OS two days ago and once again find myself on a learning curve. So far I've found a few things I'm not thrilled with but after talking with the guy at Mac Media yesterday I discovered that some of those can be changed back to the more familiar settings. The rest I guess I'll just get used to. So far I haven't thought of another option.

Another haboob late this afternoon and it's POURING out now and blowing Billy-be-bust. (Thanks, G'ma for that one, but you never told me what it means.) Has been for 40 minutes or so, which is unusual. These storms normally roll through quickly. Jack does not like the storm, especially the thunder. He jumps with each boom, won't eat and keeps looking at me like I'm supposed to fix this.

I spent more time thinking about govt. today and concluded another essential function is the printing of a currency. That's one of the first things they did at our country's birth because at the time each state had its own currency and commerce was a mess. I suppose this one goes more in the category of pragmatic than philosophical but I can't imagine a govt. not having a currency, even if they decide to share it with others (cf. the Euro, which seemed like such a good idea at the time).

This one, too, raises issues that quickly become problems. How much money should the govt. print? Should it be based on a fixed commodity, whether gold, silver or lima beans? Should they regulate how that money is exchanged?
Remember when QE2 referred to a big ship?

Never get in a fight with a pig. You'll both get muddy and the pig will enjoy it.

Also, never get in a fight with my #2 son, Josh. He and Aubri are involved in something called CrossFit, a workout regimen that uses total body movement to achieve fitness. Josh was on the team from their local CrossFit gym went to LA a few weeks ago to compete against other gyms. ESPN was there to do some filming and will put it together for broadcast soon.
Here is some of the video they shot.
Josh shows up about 8 or 10 seconds in. He's the one wearing the bright blue shirt with the number 38 on it. They actually have quite a bit of video with him in it. The whole thing is pretty long so you don't need to watch to the end, but it will give you an idea what CrossFit is and how far out of shape you and I are.
