I stole this from Facebook but it was too funny not to share.
Christ said the one who leads children into evil would be better off if a millstone was tied around his neck and he were cast into the sea. The opposite is equally true; to minister to children aligns with the priorities of the Savior who called them forward so he could spend time with them, despite the objections of the self-important adults.
At Pathway we view the disproportionate number of children as both a blessing and a stewardship that requires the utmost in faithfulness. It's not always easy work but methinks there's nothing that surpasses it in significance and outcomes.
Steffi Graf, aka Mrs. Andre Agassi, turns 43 today.
I admire that couple and what they're doing with their money and fame.
For children.
Rob and Leslie are coming from MI for a quick visit, arriving tomorrow. We're going to have a great time just catching up. Rob and I will go out to Desert Valley Auto Parts Saturday before it gets too hot. He'll look for GTO parts and I'll be hunting down brake drums for Louise. I've never been there but it's supposed to be one of the best automotive bone yards in the country, and it's just a few miles from here.
Before their flight arrives I head to the cardiologist for the first of the tests ordered because of the bike incident. Tomorrow is the first half of the stress test. I go back Monday for the second half and an echo-cardiogram. I'll be very surprised if they find anything; I still think it was the bike crash that caused the medical issues, not the other way around. But both my folks have had heart issues, so given the family history this will at least establish a baseline. And if perchance they find something it wouldn't be the first time an unrelated incident led to the discovery of a separate medical issue.
Note: there ain't no such thing as perchance.
I went online this morning to reserve a spot at Cape Lookout State Park and discovered all of the trailer sites are already reserved. Bummer! If we were still tent camping we'd have all kinds of options, and this trailer is smaller than some tents, but we'll just head on down the road. We now have a site reserved at Jesse M. Honeyman State Park another 100 miles south. We stayed there back when the boys were kids and we camped the coast. It's one of the biggest of the coastal state parks so it will be more crowded than we prefer but we'll make it work. Newport is just north and that's a cool town with lots of interesting things to see, plus lots of one-off eating options if we opt for finer fare than can be cooked over a Coleman.
I don't know if Lance Armstrong is clean or dirty but at some point his claim of vendetta sounds plausible. When the feds spend two years investigating and close the case without bringing charges, and the USADA shadowed the feds during that time, you have to wonder how they can have sufficient evidence to overturn his victories. Of course the problem is that they aren't bound by the rules that govern a criminal investigation. They are judge and jury. And they have the power to keep him out of the triathlon competitions he's been doing since leaving cycling - without even a hearing.
This is why I haven't participated in professional sports.
