"There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you." - Will Rogers

USAToday.com has a section in the upper right corner of their home page that lists the "Most Popular" stories on their site. I assume the five or six headlines appearing there at any given time made the cut because they got the most hits, and they therefore provide some indication of the state of American interests. Forget Syria, the economy, or the Supreme Court's important rulings expected any day now. The headline that's been in that section for the last three days: "Cop dies during 3-way sex, widow gets $3m." Joining that crucial story in this morning's box - a rare yellow lobster and a dead NY mobster.
(But you gotta love the rhyme.)

Saab has been bought out of bankruptcy by the Chinese.
"Lo, how the mighty are fallen."

I was at Starbucks this morning for studying and writing. I needed to get away from the tasks that can too easily distract me when I'm home. In the far corner sat a guy talking with someone blocked from my view, and though I could only see one half of it, I enjoyed his enjoyment of that conversation. Every few minutes he'd laugh, with that throw-the-head-back, mouth wide open in a big grin, uninhibited joy laugh. A refreshing contrast to the furrowed brow focus that characterizes most of the patrons (including, undoubtedly, yours truly).

I found a waterlogged bunny in the lily pond this morning. He obviously did not pass the pollywog class at the Y.
I put him out in the center of the gravel to see if a coyote or hawk will enjoy the easy snack. If he's still there tomorrow I'll relocate him. The 105 degree temp and 5% humidity should have him petrified by then.
Note: I use "him" out of convenience. I didn't check.

Our copy of the bill for my ambulance ride came in today's mail. Thankfully it goes to the insurance company for payment, 'cause it would require another ambulance trip if I was responsible for the $1,095 charge.

We'll spend plenty of time walking the beach while we're in Oregon next month. I'm keeping my eye out for a Honda. Maybe a still-in-the-box car stereo system for the Rambler.

Really tired tonight. I was up and working by 3:30, which may have something to do with it. Whatever, my brain is fried. See you tomorrow.
