"I come from a family where gravy is considered a beverage." - Erma Bombeck

Most creative use of Post-It notes.

Today is my mom's 91st birthday. I'm blessed to have both of my parents (both 91) here. Wish I didn't live so far away.

We have been without cell phone service at our house since very early Saturday morning. I contacted T-Mobile via their on-line chat service and was told they'd have the problem solved within 72 hours. This morning, 72 hours later and still without service, I was told, basically, "Gee, Mr. MacDonald, we feel really bad about this. Our engineers will sure be working on it."
We can drive 2-3 miles in any direction and everything works fine, so it's clearly a tower near our house that's gone AWOL. Maybe the engineers can't find our house or the tower that serves us. I told this morning's chat lady (always a female name, and always clearly ESL) that if things weren't restored soon I'd be spending my post-Christmas time hunting for a new carrier.
I'll be calling my mom from a parking lot at the shopping center four miles north of us.

While doing some research for my adult class I came across this map. It shows population density, and surprised me a little. I didn't realize density levels extended that far west of the east coast. And it's like someone drew a N-S line from Minnesota to east Texas. I don't remember jumping a fence when we drove here from Michigan.

The President signed up for health care through the ACA website. Actually, he didn't really sign up because he gets his health care through the military. And he had his staff do it because he's on vacation in Hawaii. But hey, we're all feeling a lot better about this program now that we've got him, er, his staff, on board.

Doing my study for Sunday's sermon this morning I learned the Greek language has two different words for "new," each with a distinct meaning.
Who knew?

Adjusted the VW clutch and re-installed the steering wheel which was off center by about 3 degrees. Little things that dial it in.

And in case you're wondering, we'll hit 71 degrees on Christmas Day. That's almost 50 degrees warmer than the last place we lived, but people in Grand Rapids are tough. They can take it.

Chasing Classic Cars marathon on Velocity TV. Pam's working and won't be home until 8 p.m., so I guess I'll just have to suffer through hours of Wayne Carini and excessively cool cars.
