Sending out 2013 with a winter heat wave. Temps in the low 70's, and overnight lows in the mid-40's. Can't complain.
Can't complain about anything from the whole year. Our only health issues involved Pam's knee replacement surgeries which went very well and brought her great relief. Got a cool new old car (the Falcon wagon) and finished a cool old car (the VW). Made real progress in the fitness area and our change to a paleo diet has gone smoothly and brought clear benefits. Pam still has a job and the shift to her new schedule will be nothing more than a minor adjustment. I still love my work and the people I am blessed to shepherd. We've got much more than we need or deserve.
God is very good.
Awhile back I posted a pic of the shirt I ordered from a site with car related stuff. Their current shirt:
I like it!
I spent the morning at "The Cabin," an indie coffee shop eight miles away, drinking a carmel latte and immersed in my "books." I put that in quotes because I only took one book with me. I photocopied the relevant pages out of another b/c it's a big heavy tome too awkward to take on the road. And I have a great website I use for the Greek text. It was noisy in there b/c it's Christmas break, and mothers seem to think their noisy
Came home, had some lunch, and went out to the garage. Did a valve adjust on the VW. That's normally done every 3-5,000 miles, but because the engine is freshly rebuilt I needed to do one now, at 200 miles, along with the oil change I did yesterday. It's been yeeears since I did a valve adjust on a VW and it's a task with a few tricky steps. Set the gap at .005. Not .006, and not .004. As soon as you tighten things down...it changes. But it's done.
AND...I think I found the source of the flickering oil pressure light. After some inspection I think the problem is the socket into which the bulb goes, the socket in the speedometer unit. If true that's very good news compared to the alternatives. I'll know more when I have time to take the speedo unit out and look more closely than I can with my head stuffed under the hood.
I talked to Pam earlier. It's COLD in Grand Rapids and she's freezing. Her flight arrives a little before midnight tomorrow night and will get off the plane to temps 30 degrees warmer than that day's high in G.R. Plus, it's too quiet and lonely here.
One more sleep...
