"Some people want their luck buttered." - Thomas Hardy

Beginning with the new year the govt. of Israel will pay for the abortions for women between the age of 20 and 33, and plans to expand the program to cover all women.
I'm curious how American evangelicals who support the nation of Israel in any circumstance, and do so on theological grounds, deal with this news.

You cannot not watch this video to the end. You know what's going to happen each time but you still have to watch.
Which one is your favorite?

I have a problem with the VW. Thankfully it's not the catastrophic problem I thought it might be on the drive home from church yesterday. Flickering oil pressure lights cause one's heart to palpitate. After this morning's oil change and pressure sensor swap it's clear the cause is electrical. I've got a short somewhere that's causing the light to give a false warning. Now the job is to find that short. It's not in the engine compartment, so I'm really, really hoping it's up in front, behind the dash. Because if it's not there the short is in between those two locations, where the bundle of a dozen wires passes through the roof - yes, the roof of the car. There is no way I can get access to that channel at this point. I installed the new wiring harness before the headliner was in, and I am NOT taking it out.

In a comment to an earlier post that she made today my friend Jen saw the VW's plates and suggested the Falcon also needed them. Her (perfect) suggestion: ORNTHLGY.
The only problem is that's eight characters and AZ only allows seven. Which one gets left out without obscuring the meaning? Hmmm.

After too long a break I'm once again reading on the Kindle. I'm about 25% through John Grisham's, "Sycamore Row." Very good! Like all his stories this one has you hooked almost immediately, moves at a brisk pace, and reads easily. OK, it's not literary art, and character development isn't high on the list of features, but that's not why he writes his stories or we read them.
I know some crazy plot twist is coming, but I don't know what it's gonna be.

When Pam gets home from Michigan (where it's very, very cold) she'll switch to her new schedule, working five 8-hour days each week instead of the three 12-hours she's done since starting at the hospital. Two of the five days will be from 7:00 - 4:30, but the other three will start at 9 a.m. and go to 5:30, which has her arriving home about 6:00. So one of my projects in her absence is finding some meals I can fix for those three days so she doesn't have to fix when she gets here. One of the kids gave me a book of crock pot recipes several years ago, and I'm dog-earring the ones that are paleo. I'm also going to learn more about grilling.
We'll see how this goes.
There's always broiler chickens from the grocery store.

Roasting a whole chicken in the oven is super-easy! I'll send a recipe when Sue and I get back to Seattle.
