Texas Limo
A couple of hours ago I got an email from the wife half of the couple who do our music on Sunday mornings (very, very well!) saying that her dad has died. They'll be up in Prescott for the weekend with family. He had been ill but they didn't expect the end to come this quickly or suddenly.
So I'm working on putting together the music for Sunday's service. Matt normally leads the singing when the K's are out of town, but he's also out of town this weekend, attending a wedding in Texas. So guess who's leading music Sunday. Gonna be a busy morning.
I used my time in MI to work ahead on preps, which turns out to have been a good move. It has also freed up some time to work on the truck. I can't get further with chassis work until the cab and bed are off. So Saturday I'll go out to fetch Lyle's flatbed trailer, and Sunday afternoon Josh will come out to help me get the cab and bed off the frame and onto the trailer. Between now and then I have to get the cab gutted of all its parts and pieces, and there are a surprising number of them. Today I removed the steering wheel (takes a special puller), the glove box, the heater, the wiper arms, and the cowl. Doesn't sound like much but it goes slowly when parts have been untouched for 55 years. Never mind that I'm figuring it out as I go along.
The plan is to take the cab and bed, plus the fenders and hood, to the media blaster Monday morning.
Pam and I went for our normal Thursday dinner out, this time to a local pizza joint that has a pretty good paleo pizza. We went there because it's across the parking lot from McDonald's (not paleo!) and we could snag their wifi signal. We spent dinner plotting out our vacation in July. The bad news: the OR state park we were looking forward to spending five days in is already booked for that weekend, so we can only be there for three. But any time spent camping is time well spent; we'll just move on down the coast further away from the Portland metro area and the hordes who escape the city for a weekend away. One thing we like about the teardrop is the ability to get set up or to break camp in 15-20 minutes. Lots easier than a tent.
OK, time for food. Today's workout included 84 burpees. That plus the 60 pull ups and 120 air squats I did throughout the day have me hungry, and that pizza only made a dent.
