I drove the VW up the hill to Starbucks this morning, and from there to a couple of businesses in the same area where I had to pick up a few things - Home Depot for a new aerator, O'Reilly's for some PB Blaster (great stuff), and the grocery store for eggs.
May have been a mistake.
Everywhere I went people stared and/or made comments on the car.
With almost five days left in my 7-day listing I'm near 50% of my reserve.
I fix b'fast during the week. On Saturday and Sunday I fix mine when I feel like eating and Pam fixes her own when she gets up.
Today I decided to fry the eggs instead of serving them up soft boiled (3.5 minutes) like I have heretofore. We need a new small frypan; the no-stick part of the one we have has lost it's stuff. But I decided I like fried better. That way you get eggs and bacon, not eggs and then bacon. You can put both in your mouth at the same time.
Tonight's season ending episode of Duck Dynasty was pretty touching. You should see if you can find it as a rerun later. A&E.
Too many 28-year old mothers are driving oversized black beasts - does she really need an Explorer on 19" wheels? - in too big a hurry.
Two days ago World Vision (only the U.S. division) announced a change in their employment manual that would remove the prohibition against people in same-sex marriage working at World Vision. President Richard Stearns said several of the denominations with which they partner recognize the validity of gay marriages in the states where it is now legal, and it was inconsistent for them to reject what their partners recognized. They remain solidly Trinitarian and committed to biblical authority, but on a topic where denominations disagree he saw it as a matter where the difference of opinion should mean there was room for both views. A matter of principle.
That was Monday, this is today.
Today Stearns announced they were reversing that decision. Seems they heard from a whole lot of people, including donors and evangelical leaders, who found that decision beyond the pale. The handwriting was on the wall; the financial hit was gonna be way too big.
Pesos trump principles.
Stearns didn't come out and say that; he explained that they upset a lot of people and that was really too bad, and he didn't want to cause anybody pain, and next time he'd
Which is worse: saying you're committed to biblical teaching and then making a decision that flies in the face of that teaching ... or ... reversing that decision and saying you did it because you felt bad about all the pain it caused? (When everybody knows it was all about the bucks.) 'cause now nobody trusts you. Those who support gay marriage are ticked you dumped them and those who oppose gay marriage know you only back tracked because you want their money.
Speaking of snakes...
