"When your work speaks for itself don't interrupt." - Henry J. Kaiser

NBCNews.com is one of the sites I check regularly for my news fix. About three months ago they gave their site a major overhaul with HUGE pictures and fewer, shorter headlines. I didn't like what seemed like a switch from news to visual pop. This afternoon when I went there they had a pop-up announcing a new, restructured site "coming soon."
Reading between the lines, I'm guessing they got a pretty negative response to this first revision - so bad that though they don't have the new one ready yet they want us to know it's coming and we should just hang in there.

I went to the gym this afternoon, my first real workout for about three weeks. Felt like it, too. I can hardly wait to see how I feel tomorrow.

I also worked on the truck for the first time since we left on vacation. I spent a little over an hour sanding the "filler" coat on the left side of the truck. Did it with 100 grit this morning and now have to follow with 120 and then 180. Yeah, this is tedious, but critical to the final appearance of the paint job, and that's what people notice. They won't see the work I did cleaning and painting the chassis, or care that it will have a completely new and upgraded brake system. People will see the paint and judge the truck on that basis.
Wish I knew what I was doing.

Yesterday I began a three-part series, "Verses I Wish Weren't in the Bible." I picked three that call me out for behavior that's unacceptable for one who calls himself a child of God. My hope is that others have problems with these verses, too, or I'm just making myself look bad. And I don't need three weeks of sermons to do that.

Yesterday, Part One: Lev. 19:18
You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord."
The vengeance part - no problem. That requires action, and action is too obvious. The grudge part - nobody sees a grudge. I can indulge myself and no one has to know.
Wish he hadn't put that in there.
