"He looked about as inconspicuous as a tarantula on a slice of angel food." - Raymond Chandler

A woman came out of a Walmart in Riverside, CA, opened the trunk of her Lexus to put her groceries in, and discovered a dead body. She has no idea how the body got there (at least that's her story, and she's sticking to it). The cops say they think the body was put in the trunk near her home in Pomona, a likely scenario given that the woman admitted to recognizing the dead guy as her neighbor.

The Seahawks lost. The 49ers are playing tonight and a loss would be just fine with me. That would make the two divisional favorites 1-1 and the Cardinals 2-0. Whodathunkit?

Pre- and post-game shows had as much discussion about off field issues as on field plays.

I did some reading in the shop manual for the truck tonight in prep for more assembly tomorrow. Turns out I can't install the distributor until the engine is back in the truck and I can use the starter to turn it over. I think.
Re. installing the fuel pump: "Connect fuel and vacuum hose and hose to hollow bolt on pump assembly."
Ah, c'mon. Give a guy a break here.

Sunday night football or the Miss America pageant.
And somebody at ABC thought we needed a "Countdown to the Pageant" show.
Sideline reporters?

We used Legal Zoom to create new wills that arrived in the mail a few days ago. This morning we asked one of the couples to come a bit early and sign as witnesses, and then had them notarized. We can die now.
We also have new legal and medical powers of attorney coming. We had all those documents, but they were seriously out of date. Our work with Chad, the guy who's started helping us get our financial future in order, prompted us to do what we should have done decades ago. And though I am a Scot to my core the expense really amounts to good stewardship of what God has loaned us. And it was a LOT less than we would have paid an attorney to draw these up.

I'm watching the Ken Burns PBS series on the Roosevelts. Lovin' it. The photographs are fascinating though my ignorance of that period of history has be struggling to keep up with the two branches of that family.
