True story; deer with b'ball caught in his antlers.
- I enjoy watching people from other cultures with behavioral patterns very different from our western culture, rooted in the constrained and proper western European tradition. In this case, a young Mediterranean mother so loud and animated in her conversation that, if she were on stage, we'd say she was over-acting. Refreshing.
- Many people on their way to and from work drive as if every second counts and a distance between cars of more than 15' is an offense not to be tolerated.
- A whole lot of skinny H.S. girls are going off to class hopped up on the caffeine of a triple shot espresso. (The guys are getting theirs from Monster and Mountain Dew.)
- I got an email asking me to update Pathway's CCLI account, so I clicked through to their page where I was asked to enter my email and password. Of course I can't remember the password so I clicked on that button. Could go no further because...they don't have my email address attached to any active account. Huh?? You just sent me an email.
Guy walks into a Starbucks with an iPad and discreetly uses it to take pictures of...the mat just inside the door, the tile baseboard under the pick-up counter, the ceiling...
Then I notice the Starbucks logo on the sleeve of his white polo.
So much for discreet.
The dew point stuck in the mid-70's all day. I don't know if that's because of all the moisture in/on the ground from yesterday's torrential rains, or the remnants of Norbert still in the air, or both. I just know it's oppressive. If I wanted Atlanta I'd have moved to Atlanta.
Today I read the transcript of a speech given a few weeks ago by Sen. Paul Ryan at Hillsdale College in MI. He impresses me. He's got a reputation for being wonkish but I don't think that's deserved. And he's not off on the fringes. Balanced, thoughtful, well-spoken, persuasive. The kind of guy who should get more air time than he does, especially compared to the loud sound-biters who grab too much of the attention.
Is it just me, or do orders of protection for domestic violence make very little sense? Any man (or woman) who hits their partner is not the kind of person who respects an order from the court telling him not to do it anymore. At least it seems very rare they'd be deterred from further bad behavior by a piece of paper issued.
Cf. the number of people driving with a suspended drivers license.
Busy day tomorrow. Pics tomorrow night.
