"You wouldn't have won if we'd beaten you." - Yogi Berra
Pathway had a bowling social this afternoon at a place called Uptown Alley.
This is not my father's bowling alley!
Are they all like this now? Huge, restaurants (plural) huge screen TV's everywhere, LOUD music, arcade, bar, and...lanes.
With colored, constantly pulsing strobe lights up the space between each lane, HUGE screen TV's over the scoring screens above the pins (all LCD), kiddie bumpers that magically appeared when a child steps up, strobe lights on the ceiling, LOUD music....
And the scoring table is gone, replaced by a touchpad on a pedestal.
I got the distributor cleaned - took about 90 minutes for disassembly, cleaning, and assembly - and provisionally installed. The final installation has to wait until the bell housing and flywheel are in place.
Something about Pam being gone makes me want donuts. Plural.
I enjoy watching F1 on TV. This weekend they're racing in Malaysia, a night race on a street course. NASCAR is about big motors, sheet metal, and pushing the other guy out of the way. That's what fenders are for.
F1 is about high tech engineering, lightning fast reflexes, and more high tech engineering.
Here's a pic of an F1 steering wheel with buttons and dials for controlling dozens of variables. That screen in the center gives the driver a constant graphic feed of data on everything from tire wear to downforce, to fuel consumption.... And he manages all of this at speeds that get north of 200 mph and hairpin turns in - both directions!
Busy morning tomorrow. Early bed tonight.
