"Guilt; the gift that keeps on giving." - Erma Bombeck
Harbor Freight and WalMart have a lot in common.
That's not a compliment for Harbor Freight.
If a male hits a guy in the face and knocks him out he'll be charged with assault.
If a male hits a woman in the face and knock her out he'll be charged with assault.
If a male hits his wife in the face and knocks her out...why is that different? Why is there a separate category of criminal charges when it's domestic?
(And does it seem to anyone else that "domestic violence" is an oxymoron?)
I didn't read the arguments for/against Scottish independence but something in me was sorry that the vote for secession failed. I don't know if it was because I'm 25% Scottish or just because I like seeing old things restored.
As a followup trivia question, can you ID the countries that now exist as a result of the breakup of Yugoslavia?
This morning I got the coil, alternator, and dip stick installed. Each took some finagling but I got 'er done. It's starting to look like an engine.
Next up: the distributor. I need to do some reading up & You Tubing to figure the installation of the dizzy out. And more cleaning & painting. That learning & installation is tomorrow's goal, and then if there's time, a carb rebuild.
That grande Americano at Starbucks this morning may not have been the best decision of my day.
I got a phone call while I was there doing some writing (I've neglected that the last couple of weeks) that led to a brief but important conversation. I try to keep my naturally big voice reigned in when I'm talking on the phone in public because that's one of the things I find annoying in others - forcing the rest of us to listen to one half of their conversation.
When the lady at the small table next to mine got up to leave she said, "You have a very nice voice."
I appreciate the compliment but also infer I didn't do such a good job at keeping the volume down.
Her watch said the wrong time. It was an hour ahead. Which, in my best Inspector Clouseau impersonation I took to mean she's visiting from somewhere in the Mountain time zone. I should have asked.
Roger Goodell punts...and misses.
And 49ers head coach John Harbaugh once again proves he's a class act, even if his employers aren't.
The Commander in Chief says that there will be no troops on the ground in Iraq. Ain't gonna happen. Ever.
His generals tell Congress that if circumstances make it appropriate they will urge that troops be sent.
I've never been in the military but I think this is called a chain of command issue.
Pam's dog is completely thrown off by her absence.
Me too.
