"Never mistake motion for action." - Ernest Hemmingway
I was out washing the Falcon this afternoon when a car pulled up directly across the street, sat there for about a minute, and then drove off. Two minutes later it drove by again, headed the opposite direction.
I think I just got another visit from the Home Owners Association.
I had the cab and frame out in the driveway by late morning yesterday so it would be ready for the kids when they came for dinner. I felt cruddy and decided I should get things set up early in the day in case I spent the afternoon in bed. I think a certain neighbor may have reported me to the HOA and they came to check things out. No worries; everything is tucked in the garage where it stays unless I've rolled it out to the driveway for a couple of hours to work on it.
I feel better today. My eye is much less irritated and bloodshot, and my nose isn't running non-stop. That bodes well for tomorrow's activities.
21% of people admit to posting to Facebook or Twitter while sitting on the toilet.
The average American flushes that toilet 2,190 times per year, accounting for 30% of their water usage.
I've watched more college football today than I have all year, mostly because Pam threatened me with an untimely and nasty death if I overdid it. Watched most of the Ohio St. vs. Michigan game, including the play in which the Buckeye QB broke his ankle. Ugly, including in the replays they showed. One commentator: "Barrett looked down and saw his foot pointing the wrong direction and calmly looked away."
Tomorrow morning I'll shave the surgery site on my cheek, the first time since that procedure nine days ago. They told me to wait two weeks but I figure this is close enough and it will be less of a distraction at church without a circle of white whiskers. The swelling is almost all gone so the risk of carving it open is minimal if I'm careful. And I will be careful.
We're starting an Advent series tomorrow, the first time I've ever done that. Our version will be pretty low-key. I made an advent wreath today, complete with four red candles and a white one. Each Sunday one of our kids will read a bit about that week's theme (this week is hope), and then not light the candle. That's because our contract with the school district says we can't have any open flame. So we'll pretend to have a flame. I haven't decided if I'll have the kids pretend to light it.

I'm WAY too cheap to spend $25 on fake candles. Plus shipping! And I still gotta buy the batteries.
Naw. we'll pretend.
