"Analyzing humor is like dissecting a frog. Few people are interested and the frog dies of it." - E.B. White

I did burpees today. After a 6-week layoff it's too soon to be doing burpees. Ouch.

I finished buffing out the cab's interior and started cutting the hole in the floor to access the new master cylinder, but my cutoff wheel broke. Got a new one on the way to the gym so I'll go back to that task tomorrow. Then I'll start soundproofing the cab. I've got a box of parts arriving tomorrow afternoon that will keep me busy for several days next week.

My sermon introduction this week looks at words that express a core value within a given culture, that get to the heart of its ethos. I contacted some friends with knowledge of a particular foreign language to suggest words, or in one case to confirm what I thought (a Swahili word I learned while in Tanzania years ago).
What I couldn't do is come up with a word that is central to our culture.
Suggestions?

I like Charles Barkley. He says what's on his mind whether it's politically correct or not, and he's very often spot-on.

That's all I got tonight. I've been sitting here trying to think of something to write but my brain is already in bed...and my body isn't far behind.

I'll try to do better tomorrow night.

I think the word Cowboy expresses US individualism and is also a stereotype other cultures use for us.

I think "Nostalgia" is a word that describes a core part of Western Culture.

I've been thinking more about it today. Decided one of my choices for our country would be "entrepreneur." We have been and remain the country where you "can be anything you want to be" and the possibility of becoming a self-made person is a key part of our psyche.
